The role

The FT is looking for a creative and technically skilled Multimedia Producer with 3D animation skills.

Working closely with the Explainers Editor, as well as reporters, designers, the social media and video teams you’ll produce and edit short-form videos that appear on FT.com, YouTube, and social media. This includes creating visually compelling motion graphics and clear, audience-focused storytelling.

You’ll play a key role in developing engaging, high-quality video content that helps our global audience make sense of the world.

We’re looking for someone who can think editorially and visually — who can make our content stand out, clarify complex topics, and stay true to the FT’s brand and journalistic values. And we are looking for someone who understands how to engage a younger cohort and is an avid follower of online video

Key responsibilities:

  • Produce and edit short-form videos for FT platforms and social media, including vertical video
  • Collaborate with the Explainers Editor to create impactful, visual-led explainers on key global topics
  • Design and animate clean, modern motion graphics that bring data and stories to life
  • Contribute creative ideas in team meetings and pitch visual approaches for upcoming stories
  • Ensure videos are optimised for platform and audience
  • Work with journalists and other producers to shape scripts, visuals and editorial angles
  • Maintain high production standards while managing multiple projects to deadline

You should have:

  • A strong portfolio showcasing your work in video production, editing and motion graphics
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud, especially After Effects, Adobe Audition,  Premiere Pro, Illustrator and Photoshop
  • Ability to craft a visual narrative and apply good editorial judgment
  • Knowledge of social-first video formats and trends — what works and why
  • Strong understanding of design principles, layout and typography

It would be good to have:

  • Familiarity with newsrooms or journalistic content
  • Ability to understand and transform data sets between multiple platforms and systems
  • An understanding of the principles of cartography

Who you are:

  • Positive, creative, curious and collaborative — with a strong visual eye and an editorial brain
  • Confident juggling multiple projects under pressure
  • Comfortable working independently and as part of a team
  • Interested in global affairs, business, technology or economics
  • Proactive in experimenting with new tools, techniques and formats

Please submit your application by the end of the day, Wednesday 2nd September 2026.

The use of AI

Original reporting, great writing and intelligent commentary lie at the heart of FT journalism. Our readers trust us to produce quality journalism that is accurate, fair and insightful. This is why FT editorial staff do not by default use artificial intelligence (AI) tools to write articles or create other reader-facing content. For specific and pre-approved cases, AI can be harnessed for certain tasks, such as assisting data research for investigations.

We expect applicants to the FT newsroom to refrain from using AI in their test submissions, and any written materials should be a genuine reflection of their own knowledge, skills and experiences. We encourage candidates only to employ AI as a tool to help with research and interview readiness for a role.

Candidates should be aware that the use of AI throughout the application process is monitored to ensure a fair and transparent hiring process for all.

Our commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion

We believe in the power of unique perspectives and want all voices in our organisation to be heard, respected and valued. A supportive workplace is one where employees feel they can be themselves and operate to their full potential. We are committed to removing barriers for everyone, with a focus on addressing those faced by underrepresented groups.

What’s in it for you? Our benefits

Our benefits vary by location but we are committed to providing best-in-class perks across all our offices. These include generous annual leave, medical cover, inclusive parental leave packages, subsidised gym memberships and opportunities to give back to the community. Full details of our benefits are available here.

FT Newsroom staff are expected to work onsite a minimum of three days per week, subject to role requirements and regular review. While flexible working requests will be considered, not all patterns are suitable for Editorial roles.

Accessibility

We are a disability confident employer and Valuable 500 signatory.

Please let us know if you require any reasonable adjustments/personalisation as part of the application process or to enable you to attend an interview. If you would like to discuss your requirements or have any questions, email [email protected] and a member of our team will be happy to help.
