About this Maintenance Technician _ Utilities installation role at ROCKWOOL

Ensures the safe and efficient operation of plumbing, heating, water supply, drainage, compressed air systems, and other building utility installations by carrying out operation, preventive and corrective maintenance activities, and performing welding and metal fabrication work as required to maintain the functionality of the facilities.

Key responsibilities and activities include, but are not limited to:  

Project Phase

  • Assists in the installation, commissioning, and start-up of plumbing, heating, water supply, drainage, compressed air systems, and other building utility systems.
  • Participates in the inspection, acceptance, and testing of new or upgraded building utility systems.
  • Cooperates with suppliers, contractors, and other parties involved in facility-related projects.

Operation Phase

  • Ensures the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of plumbing, heating, water supply, drainage, compressed air systems, and associated building utility equipment.
  • Performs preventive maintenance activities in accordance with the preventive maintenance plan.
  • Identifies, diagnoses, and repairs faults affecting building utility systems and equipment under the responsibility of the Facilities Department.
  • Replace defective pipes, valves, faucets, pumps, fittings, and other mechanical components.
  • Performs welding activities required for the repair or modification of piping systems and metal supports, within the scope of qualifications and authorizations held.
  • Carries out pipe threading, cutting, bending, installation, and assembly of piping systems and metal components.
  • Investigates the root causes of equipment failures and proposes corrective and preventive actions to avoid recurrence.
  • Participates in both planned and emergency maintenance interventions on building utility systems.
  • Works closely with the Facilities Manager and Facilities Engineer to improve the reliability and performance of building utility systems.
  • Monitors the availability and requirements of materials, consumables, spare parts, and maintenance supplies.
  • Completes maintenance records, intervention reports, and other documentation related to maintenance activities.
  • Participates in the implementation of continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Operates lifting equipment, forklifts, overhead cranes, or other material handling equipment only when appropriately trained and authorized.
  • Maintains good housekeeping standards, ensuring cleanliness and order in technical rooms and work areas.

Working Conditions: Factory

Functional and technical competencies 

  • Technical secondary education or vocational school diploma in plumbing, mechanical, or building services installations.
  • Certified Plumbing, Heating, and Gas Installation Technician, or an equivalent technical qualification.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a similar position.
  • Sound knowledge of plumbing, heating, water supply, gas, drainage, compressed air systems, and industrial utility systems.
  • Knowledge of welding techniques and metal fabrication work related to the installation, maintenance, and repair of piping systems and associated equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and engineering schematics.
  • Proficiency in the use of measuring instruments and job-specific tools and equipment.
  • Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.

Licenses / Certifications

  • Authorization to perform work at height, in accordance with applicable legal requirements and the Company's internal procedures.
  • Valid Welder Certification.
  • ISCIR authorization for the operation of overhead cranes – considered an advantage.
  • ISCIR authorization for the operation of forklifts – considered an advantage.
  • ISCIR Boiler Operator (Stoker) authorization, where the position includes the operation of boiler or heating plant systems.
