About the role

We are seeking an experienced and highly organized ECAD Librarian to own and manage the enterprise ECAD component library within Altium Designer. The role will be responsible for creating, validating, maintaining, and governing schematic symbols, PCB footprints, 3D models, and managed components while ensuring compliance with company standards, IPC guidelines, and design governance processes.

The ECAD Librarian will play a critical role in supporting global engineering teams by providing high-quality reusable design assets and driving library standardization across multiple business units and product lines

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Library Creation & Maintenance

  • Create and maintain schematic symbols, PCB footprints, 3D models, and managed components in Altium Designer.

  • Ensure component libraries comply with IPC standards, company design practices, and manufacturing requirements.

  • Develop and maintain library naming conventions, parameter definitions, templates, and metadata standards.

  • Validate symbol-to-footprint mappings and ensure component integrity before release.

  • Component Lifecycle Management

  • Manage component requests through the New Component Request (NCR) process.

  • Review existing library content before creating new components to avoid duplication.

  • Maintain component lifecycle status, revisions, and version control.

  • Support part obsolescence, alternate component management, and lifecycle updates.

  • Library Governance & Quality

  • Establish and maintain ECAD library governance processes.

  • Perform quality reviews and audits of library content.

  • Ensure consistency, completeness, and traceability of component data.

  • Drive continuous improvement of library standards and workflows.

  • Develop and maintain library-related procedures and work instructions.

  • Migration & Consolidation

  • Support migration of legacy libraries from Cadence Allegro, OrCAD, PADS, Zuken, and other ECAD platforms into Altium.

  • Validate converted symbols, footprints, and managed components.

  • Participate in enterprise-wide library consolidation initiatives.

  • Support global rollout and adoption of Altium Designer libraries.

  • Engineering Support

  • Partner with design engineers, PCB designers, component engineers, compliance engineers, and manufacturing teams.

  • Provide guidance on component selection, library usage, and component request processes.

  • Support project teams with urgent component creation and design release activities.

  • Conduct user training and knowledge-sharing sessions on library best practices.

Requirements 

Requires advanced knowledge obtained through a University degree, combined with experience
Practical to substantial knowledge of Carrier organization, programs or systems with the ability to make enhancements and leverage in daily work
University Degree or equivalent
A minimum of 5 years prior relevant experience
OR
An advanced degree in a related field and a minimum of 3 years experience
