POSITION SUMMARY
The Finance Intern supports the Finance organization in financial planning, analysis, budgeting, reporting, and process improvement. The role provides practical experience in financial management while assisting with cost center monitoring, financial data analysis, and month-end reporting support.
Key Responsibilities
Budgeting & Cost Center Management
- Assist with preparing and maintaining annual cost center budgets.
- Track monthly spending against approved budgets and forecasts.
- Analyze budget-versus-actual reports and investigate significant variances.
- Support budget owners during budget reviews and forecast updates.
- Help identify cost-saving opportunities and recurring spending trends.
Financial Analysis & Reporting
- Analyze revenue, operating expenses, and profitability trends.
- Prepare recurring financial performance reports and management summaries.
- Support forecast updates, variance analyses, and ad hoc financial models.
- Compile and validate financial data from multiple sources.
Month-End Close Support
- Review account reconciliations and supporting documents.
- Support accrual and prepaid expense reviews.
- Validate financial information for completeness and reporting accuracy.
- Maintain organized documentation for internal and external audit requests.
Data Analytics & Process Improvement
- Develop and maintain Excel-based reports, templates, and trackers.
- Identify opportunities to automate recurring reports and manual activities.
- Support data-quality reviews and finance master-data maintenance.
Compliance & Internal Controls
- Follow company financial policies, procedures, and confidentiality requirements.
- Assist with internal control documentation, testing support, and remediation tracking.
- Prepare supporting evidence for audit and compliance requests.
Qualifications & Skills
- Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Working knowledge of accounting and financial analysis concepts.
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including PivotTables and XLOOKUP; Power Query exposure is preferred.
- Power BI knowledge is an advantage.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- High attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple assignments and meet deadlines in a collaborative environment.
