Our Team

The Risk & Fraud team at Q2 is responsible for helping our customers take a proactive stance against fraud and managing the risks of their business.  We build and enhance products that evolve with the ever-changing fraud landscape, delivering tangible value for our customers.  Our solutions enable them to focus more of their time and energy on their mission: best serving their customers and communities.

The Role

As a Software Engineer on the Risk & Fraud team, you will be embedded on a team building production systems that directly impact our customers' ability to detect and prevent fraud. You'll work across the stack — designing and implementing services, APIs, and the data infrastructure that powers our fraud models, agents, and user-facing products.

You'll take ownership of systems end-to-end, work cross-functionally with product managers, data scientists, and engineers, and bring strong engineering fundamentals to a domain where reliability and correctness genuinely matter.

Your key responsibilities:

  • Design, implement, and test software solutions with a focus on high availability and resiliency
  • Build and operate scalable data workflows, including data pipelines, transformations and integrations with our data platform, that support fraud analytics and machine learning models
  • Work across the stack as needed — from data layers to APIs to front-end integrations
  • Own your systems end-to-end: delivery, monitoring, incident response, and iteration
  • Partner with product managers, data scientists, and engineers to translate fraud and risk requirements into scalable solutions
  • Ensure adherence to all security, confidentiality and privacy policies and controls.
  • Assist and mentor teammates to provide technical leadership and evangelize best practices

You are more likely to excel in the role if you:

  • Enjoy autonomy in your work and feel a sense of ownership in the team’s goals.  You work quickly but with the big picture in mind.
  • Have empathy for the end user and a desire to measure your work by both the customer value and technical quality.

Requirements

Must haves

  • Typically requires a Bachelor's degree in relevant field and a minimum of 2 years of related experience; or an advanced degree; or equivalent work experience
  • Proficiency in Python — well-tested, maintainable, scalable code
  • Proficiency in SQL and comfort with relational and/or analytical data stores
  • Proficiency in JavaScript/TypeScript and a modern framework (Vue.js or similar)
  • Experience implementing and maintain CI/CD pipelines
  • Experience building applications using a cloud-native, service-oriented architecture

Nice to Have

  • Experience with data pipeline tools (airflow, dbt) or cloud data platforms (Snowflake, AWS data services)
  • Exposure to data modeling, transformation, or orchestration concepts
  • Experience with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) or infrastructure as code

This position requires fluent written and oral communication in English.

Applicants must be authorized to work for any employer in the U.S. We are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa at this time.
