About this HVAC Service Estimator (024-1258) role at Hunt St
Looking for Philippines-based candidates
Job Role: HVAC Service Estimator
Compensation range: $1,800 AUD - $2,500 AUD / Monthly
Engagement type: Independent Contractor Agreement
Work Schedule: This role is expected to align with the AU business hours (approx. 9 AM - 5 PM, Monday to Friday) for collaboration, but as a contractor, you’ll have flexibility in how you manage your time.
Who We Are: At Hunt St, we help Australian companies hire top remote talent in the Philippines. For this role, you will be engaged directly by the client as an independent contractor. We are not an outsourcing agency. All of our roles are 100% remote so you'll be able to work from home.
Who The Client Is: A commercial HVAC contractor based in Sydney, NSW. We design, supply, install, and maintain mechanical services for commercial and industrial clients across the greater Sydney metro area, alongside a growing service and repairs arm covering commercial and residential HVAC equipment.
As we grow, we are building a remote support team in the Philippines to assist our local technicians and project staff with estimating, technical, and administrative functions.
Role Overview: This role is responsible for pricing HVAC service and repair work. Our field technicians will diagnose the fault and identify the repair or work required on site. The Service Estimator then takes that information and builds an accurate quote — making sure the correct parts, correct pricing, and correct labour time are allowed for before it goes to the client.
This role suits someone with a hands-on HVAC or refrigeration trade background who understands how equipment actually gets repaired, and who is comfortable working across many different equipment brands. It is a remote position based in the Philippines, working closely with our Sydney-based field technicians and office team.
Key Responsibilities:
Service Repair Estimating
- Review fault reports, photos, and notes provided by field technicians to understand the repair required
- Identify the correct replacement parts for the equipment brand and model involved
- Source parts and pricing from suppliers, distributors, or manufacturer parts portals
- Estimate an accurate labour time for the repair based on scope and complexity
- Prepare and issue clear, accurate quotes for commercial and residential clients
- Follow up on outstanding quotes and update their status
Technical & Product Knowledge
- Maintain working knowledge of common commercial and residential HVAC/split system brands (e.g. Daikin, Mitsubishi Electric, Fujitsu, LG, Samsung, Carrier, York, Actron)
- Keep up to date with parts numbering, model ranges, and common failure points across brands
- Liaise with field technicians to clarify scope where notes are unclear or incomplete
- Flag to the team where a job looks like it may need a site visit or further diagnosis before an accurate quote can be given
Administration
- Maintain accurate quote and job records in SimPro
- Keep supplier price lists and part costs up to date
- Ensure quotes are priced to meet margin targets
- Maintain project and client files in OneDrive
Requirements
- Preferably an ex-HVAC or refrigeration tradesperson, or someone with strong hands-on HVAC service experience
- Good understanding of service and repair work on commercial and residential HVAC equipment
- Familiarity with multiple HVAC equipment brands and their parts systems
- Able to read a technician's fault description and translate it into an accurate scope of work
- Comfortable estimating labour time realistically based on the repair involved
- Good attention to detail — an incorrect part or missed labour item costs the business money
- Solid computer skills — Excel and job management software
- Clear written communication for quotes and client-facing correspondence
- Strong written and spoken English
- Reliable internet connection, suitable home office setup, and own computer
Desirable Experience
- Trade certificate in refrigeration and air conditioning or a related mechanical trade
- Experience using manufacturer parts portals or supplier ordering systems
- Previous experience in a service coordination, estimating, or parts interpreting role
- Familiarity with SimPro
