Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Global SCADA Manager, to take global technical ownership of the design, standards, integration, acceptance and lifecycle of Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems for solar photovoltaic (PV), wind and battery energy storage (BESS) assets across Enfinity’s portfolio.

This is a global position based in Italy, with end-to-end technical ownership of SCADA across Enfinity’s entire portfolio of solar PV, wind and BESS plants worldwide. The Global SCADA Manager is Enfinity’s technical reference and centre of competence for SCADA, setting global standards and providing design authority, guidance and second-level support to local O&M and engineering teams in every country.

The role sits within the Global IT & Cybersecurity (GICT) organization, in the IT/OT domain, reflecting Enfinity's approach of managing operational technology, network architecture and cybersecurity in an integrated way. The successful candidate will ensure reliable monitoring, control and data acquisition for renewable assets, supporting grid integration, performance optimization, OT security and compliance with applicable Regional standards

Reporting Structure

The Global SCADA Manager reports directly to the CIO, within the Global IT & Cybersecurity (GICT) function.

This line governs SCADA architecture and standards, OT/ICS cybersecurity, network design and the day-to-day priorities of the role.

The role also maintains a functional relationship with the Asset Performance Manager, to ensure that SCADA design, data quality and monitoring directly serve energy production analysis, availability and performance optimization of the operating fleet.

Key Responsibilities:

SCADA engineering & operations

• Define the technical requirements, specifications and architecture for SCADA systems — including HMIs, PLCs, RTUs, network architecture and data historians — for solar PV, wind and BESS plants; review and approve the designs delivered by EPCs and vendors. The role specifies and owns the solution; it does not build SCADA systems itself.

• Define and own the integration requirements between SCADA and plant controllers (PPC), inverters, turbines, BESS, substations and grid operators; oversee and validate the integration delivered by EPCs and vendors, ensuring seamless and secure data flow and control.

• Review, witness and accept SCADA commissioning, Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and Site Acceptance Testing (SAT) executed by the EPC/contractor — validating compliance with Enfinity’s specifications and signing off acceptance, attending key milestones on-site and supporting remotely where possible.

• Accountable for technical compliance: owns the specifications and standards, reviews and approves contractor deliverables, witnesses and supports FAT/SAT at key milestones, and provides technical sign-off, while the EPCs and vendors are responsible to execute the SCADA design, build, configuration and commissioning of each plant in line with Enfinity’s specifications.

• Any hands-on work is limited and exceptional — focused on validation, targeted troubleshooting and oversight in operation; routine build, programming and configuration are delivered by EPCs and vendors.

• Define and approve the standards and templates for points lists, logic diagrams, alarm configurations, control narratives and IP address schemes, and review those produced by EPCs and vendors.

• Specify and govern the configuration standards for SCADA software, databases (e.g. SQL) and communication protocols (e.g. Modbus, DNP3, IEC 60870-5-104, IEC 61850); review and validate the implementations delivered by EPCs and vendors rather than programming them directly.

• Review contractor proposals, designs and documentation; evaluate compliance with project specifications, internal standards and applicable industry standards.

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (EPC contractors, OEMs, O&M providers and grid operators) to optimize system performance and resolve integration challenges.

Global SCADA ownership (all plants, all regions)

• Act as Enfinity's technical reference and center of competence for SCADA, defining standards, templates and good practices that can be reused across the global portfolio.

• Provide design authority, guidance and second-level support to SCADA and O&M teams in every country, holding global technical accountability for SCADA across the portfolio.

• Support the standardization and harmonization of SCADA architectures, points lists and monitoring across new and existing assets internationally.

IT/OT cybersecurity & networking

• Define, oversee and assure OT/ICS cybersecurity controls on SCADA networks (segmentation, hardening, secure remote access, patching and backup) — ensuring EPCs, vendors and O&M implement them — in line with the direction of the CISO.

• Support regulatory and standards compliance for SCADA, including the NIS2 Directive, IEC 62443, IEC 61850, GDPR and applicable Italian/European grid codes (e.g. CEI 0-16, Terna Grid Code / Codice di Rete, ENTSO-E).

• Contribute to OT risk assessments, incident response and outage restoration for SCADA-related events, in coordination with the wider GICT and SOC teams.

Asset performance support

• Ensure SCADA data acquisition, tagging and historization meet the data-quality requirements of the Asset Performance Manager for production, availability and performance ratio (PR) analysis.

• Ensure reliable data flows from field devices (meteorological stations, meters, relays, inverters, PPC, BESS) to monitoring, reporting and analytics platforms are delivered and maintained by EPCs and vendors, validating their quality and completeness.

• Monitor system performance and analyze data to identify inefficiencies or underperformance, and define and oversee the upgrades, retrofits or configuration changes delivered by EPCs and vendors on existing assets.

• Support the Asset Performance team with troubleshooting of data gaps, alarms and KPI discrepancies, and with the definition of monitoring dashboards and reports.

Project & documentation support

• Support project management activities, including documentation, training for operations teams and occasional site travel.

• Ensure accurate technical documentation and as-built records are produced by EPCs and vendors and kept current for all SCADA systems across the global portfolio, owning the standards and central library.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Automation or a related field (Master's preferred).
  • 10+ years of hands-on experience in SCADA engineering, with specific expertise in utility-scale solar PV and/or wind energy projects.
  • Proven experience with renewable energy SCADA systems, including turbine controllers (e.g. GE, Vestas, Siemens) and solar inverters / plant controllers (PPC).
  • Strong working knowledge of SCADA platforms (e.g. Ignition, OSI Monarch, Wonderware) and programming languages (e.g. Python, SQL, C++, Structured Text / IEC 61131-3) — sufficient to specify, review and validate the work of EPCs and vendors.
  • Strong knowledge of industrial networks, communication protocols, OT cybersecurity best practices and grid interconnection requirements.
  • Solid understanding of PLC/RTU configuration, HMI development and data acquisition from field devices (e.g. meteorological stations, meters, relays) — enough to direct and review EPC/vendor delivery.
  • Working knowledge of OT/ICS cybersecurity and relevant standards (e.g. IEC 62443, IEC 61850, NIS2) — sufficient to operate effectively under the IT/OT solid reporting line.
  • Understanding of asset performance concepts — energy yield, availability, performance ratio (PR) and KPI monitoring — to support the dotted-line relationship with the Asset Performance Manager.
  • Familiarity with Italian and European grid codes and tools such as SEL RTAC, Orion LX or similar.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail and ability to work in a team-oriented, cross-functional and multinational environment.
  • Fluency in Italian and professional working proficiency in English (the working language for global coordination). Spanish is a plus.
  • Willingness to travel to project sites (up to 50–60%, including occasional international travel) and hold a valid driver's license.

Benefits

  • Private Health Insurance
  • Pension Plan
  • Paid Time Off
  • Work From Home
  • Training & Development
  • Performance Bonus
