Job Role: Estimator / Tenderer with CAD Drafting Support

Compensation range: $2,000 AUD - $2,500 AUD / Monthly

Engagement type: Independent Contractor Agreement

Work Schedule: This role is expected to align with the AU business hours (approx. 9 AM - 5 PM, Monday to Friday) for collaboration, but as a contractor, you’ll have flexibility in how you manage your time.

Who The Client Is: An established Western Australian contractor providing electrical, mechanical, and technical services across commercial, industrial, mining, and remote projects. They are a hands-on team focused on quality, safety, and reliable project delivery. 

Role Overview: We are seeking an experienced Estimator / Tenderer with CAD drafting capability to join a growing team in a full-time remote position. The role will primarily focus on estimating and tendering (approximately 70%), with the remaining 30% dedicated to CAD drafting support.

The ideal candidate will have an electrical background, although candidates with mechanical drafting experience may also be considered, particularly if they are versatile and comfortable working across different technical requirements.

Key Responsibilities: 

Estimating & Tendering 

• Prepare accurate estimates and tenders for projects.
• Develop Material Take-Offs (MTOs) based on project requirements and documentation.
• Prepare and review Bills of Quantities (BOQs).
• Analyse project documentation and technical requirements to support accurate estimating and tender submissions.
• Assist with the preparation and coordination of tender documentation.
• Work closely with the client during the initial onboarding period to understand their estimating and tendering processes.
• Take increasing ownership of estimating and tendering activities as familiarity with the business and processes develops.

CAD Drafting 

• Provide CAD drafting support as required across projects.
• Interpret technical information and project requirements to produce accurate drawings.
• Support the estimating and tendering process through clear and accurate technical drawings.
• Apply your electrical or mechanical drafting knowledge to meet project requirements.
• Adapt to different drafting requirements and demonstrate versatility across technical disciplines where needed.

Remote Collaboration & Independence

• Work effectively as part of a fully remote team.
• Participate in hands-on onboarding and guidance during the initial stage of the role.
• Develop a strong understanding of the client's processes, expectations, and project requirements.
• Progress toward working independently and managing day-to-day responsibilities with minimal supervision.
• Demonstrate initiative and self-direction rather than relying on ongoing hands-on management.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

• Proven experience in estimating and tendering, ideally involving MTOs and BOQs.
• Experience with CAD drafting.
• An electrical drafting/technical background is preferred.
• Candidates with a mechanical background may also be considered, particularly those who are versatile and adaptable across different technical requirements.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy when working with technical and project information.
• Ability to understand and interpret technical documentation.
• Strong organisational and time-management skills.
• Ability to work independently and take ownership of assigned responsibilities.
• Proactive approach to problem-solving and day-to-day work.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a remote client.
• Comfortable learning new processes, systems, and software as required.
• Able to transition from structured onboarding and hands-on guidance to working autonomously.

This is a remote role that will be set up as an independent contractor engagement.
