Job Description:
The Configuration Management Analyst is responsible for establishing, maintaining, and continuously improving configuration management (CM) systems, processes, and controls throughout the product lifecycle. The role ensures product quality, consistency, traceability, scope control, and cost efficiency by managing hardware, software, and system baselines, supporting change control activities, and facilitating configuration audits. The incumbent collaborates with cross-functional teams to ensure configuration items are properly identified, controlled, and released in accordance with project and organizational requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Develop, tailor, and maintain configuration management processes, plans, and requirements based on contractual obligations and project needs.
Define, document, implement, and continuously improve configuration management procedures, policies, and best practices.
Maintain hardware and system baselines in accordance with established configuration and change control processes.
Manage software baselines in collaboration with engineering teams and support software build activities, configuration audits, and SCM surveillance activities.
Coordinate configuration and change management activities with Engineering, Projects, Production, Quality Assurance, Vendors, and Contract Manufacturers throughout the project lifecycle.
Ensure products, subsystems, and components are properly identified as configuration items and released in a controlled and timely manner.
Track the development and evolution of configuration items and associated technical documentation to ensure accuracy, traceability, and compliance.
Provide technical support and resolve configuration management issues across product development and project execution lifecycles.
Required Skills and Experience
Bachelor's degree in Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Science, or a related discipline.
Minimum 2 years of engineering-related experience, preferably within the railway signaling or transportation industry.
Knowledge of configuration management principles, methodologies, standards, and industry best practices.
Understanding of software development environments and software development lifecycle (SDLC) processes.
Experience with version control systems, source code management practices, and defect/problem tracking processes.
Strong organizational, analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
Self-motivated with the ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently.
Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
Preferred Skills and Experience
Experience with Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) systems such as Windchill, Palma, or equivalent platforms.
Knowledge of configuration and development tools including Git, ClearCase, ClearQuest, Jira, SAP, and DOORS.
CMII Professional Certification or equivalent configuration management certification.
Experience supporting configuration management activities within complex engineering, railway signaling, or safety-critical environments.
Familiarity with software build management, configuration audits, change control boards, and compliance monitoring activities.
Experience working in multidisciplinary engineering teams across the full product and project lifecycle.
