Are you passionate about scientific communication and medical publications? Do you have experience transforming clinical trial data into high-quality scientific publications? If so, now is your chance to join Ascendis Pharma as our new Associate Director, Global Medical Writing.

Ascendis Pharma is a global biopharmaceutical company committed to making a meaningful difference in patients’ lives. Guided by our core values of Patients, Science, and Passion, we are applying our innovative TransCon® technology platform to fulfill our mission of developing new therapies that demonstrate best-in-class potential to address unmet medical needs.

At our headquarters in Hellerup, Denmark, research facilities in Heidelberg, Germany, and additional offices across Europe and the United States, we are advancing programs in our Endocrinology Rare Disease and Oncology portfolios. We also collaborate with partners on the development of TransCon-based products in other therapeutic areas and markets.

We are seeking a passionate Associate Director, Global Medical Writing to join our growing organization. In this role, you will be responsible for driving the development of high-quality scientific publications supporting Ascendis' clinical development programs within endocrinology. You will collaborate closely with internal cross-functional teams, external investigators, and key opinion leaders to ensure timely delivery of manuscripts, abstracts, posters, and presentations that accurately communicate clinical trial outcomes.

This is an exciting opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment and contribute directly to advancing innovative therapies for patients with unmet medical needs.

You will be joining the Global Medical Writing team and collaborate with colleagues across Clinical Development, Biostatistics, Medical Affairs, and Publication Planning.

Your key responsibilities will be:

  • Draft, revise, and edit scientific publications, including manuscripts, abstracts, conference posters, and oral presentations.
  • Partner with Publication Planning and external investigators to develop publication strategies, timelines, and publication plans.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure scientific accuracy, clarity, compliance, and alignment with strategic objectives.
  • Lead publication review and revision processes with investigators, authors, and key opinion leaders to ensure timely publication delivery.
  • Conduct literature reviews and interpret clinical data, protocols, study reports, and scientific information to support high-quality scientific communications.

Qualifications and Skills

You hold a relevant academic degree, preferably a master’s degree or PhD, and have significant experience within scientific and medical writing. Furthermore, you have:

  • 8+ years of experience developing scientific publications within the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or healthcare industry. Please note that regulatory writing experience does not apply; this role is specific to scientific publications (peer-reviewed manuscripts, abstracts, posters, and podium presentations).
  • Solid understanding of publication regulations, requirements, and industry guidance, including ICMJE and Good Publication Practice (GPP) guidelines.
  • Ability to independently interpret clinical data and develop publications directly from study reports, protocols, and data outputs.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Experience within endocrinology and/or rare disease is considered an advantage but is not required.
  • CMPP certification is an asset.

Key competencies

You are a strong team player, analytical, and have a can-do attitude. You possess an entrepreneurial mindset and can thrive in an informal, open environment where innovation and change are key.

To succeed in this role, we also expect you to be:

  • Highly collaborative and able to build strong relationships across functions and geographies.
  • Organized and capable of managing multiple publication projects simultaneously.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent scientific communication and stakeholder management skills.

Travel: 10-20 days per year.
