Responsibilities / Tasks

Automation Engineer is responsible for designing and programming automation systems, primarily focusing on PLCs and HMIs. This role requires expertise in programming PLC systems, developing HMI interfaces, troubleshooting automation systems, and ensuring the efficient operation of machinery and processes.
• PLC Programming & Configuration:
o Develop, test, and troubleshoot PLC programs for controlling machinery and industrial processes.
o Write and modify SCL, structured text, and other PLC programming languages (such as FBD, SFC).
o Integrate PLCs with various field equipment to ensure smooth operation.
• HMI Development & Support:
o Design and develop HMI screens to allow operators to monitor and control automated systems effectively.
o Configure HMI communication with PLCs and other control devices.
o Maintain and troubleshoot HMI systems to ensure accurate data display and control.

• System Integration:
o Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, and process engineers to integrate PLC and HMI systems into larger control systems.
o Perform system commissioning and ensure proper communication between PLCs, HMIs, and SCADA systems.
• Troubleshooting & Testing:
o Diagnose and resolve issues with automation systems, including PLC, HMI, and other connected devices.
o Test PLC and HMI systems to ensure they meet design specifications.
o
o Perform preventive maintenance and regular updates to ensure automation systems are up-to-date and operating efficiently.
• Documentation:
o Familiar in reading P&ID, Electrical drawing and function description
o Read/ Write operational manuals and system specifications for automation systems. Required Skills & Qualifications
• Technical Expertise:
o Strong knowledge of PLC programming languages (Siemens, Allen-Bradley).
o Proficiency in HMI software (WinCC, FactoryTalk View).
o Understanding of SCADA systems and industrial communication protocols (e.g., Modbus, OPC, Ethernet/IP).
• Troubleshooting & Problem-Solving:
o Excellent troubleshooting skills for diagnosing issues with PLC, HMI, and industrial automation equipment.

o Ability to analyze and optimize system performance.
• Software Skills:
o Experience with automation software tools and simulation software.
o Proficient in using development environments for PLC and HMI programming.
• Electrical/Control Systems Knowledge:
o Strong understanding of electrical systems, control panels, and instrumentation.
o Familiarity with control strategies (e.g., PID control) and process control applications.
• Communication Skills:
o Strong written and verbal communication skills for creating documentation, writing reports, and collaborating with team members.
• Work Environment
o Typically works in office.
o May require travel to client sites or field locations for software related commissioning or troubleshooting (very minimal travel).

Your Profile / Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Electronic/ Instrumentation Engineering or a related field
o 4-6 years Experience with specific PLC brands (Siemens, Rockwell Automation)
o Understanding of SCADA systems and industrial communication protocols (e.g., Modbus, OPC, Ethernet/IP)
o Familiarity with industrial safety standards
o Certification in PLC
