THE OPPORTUNITY
The Systems Administrator II will design, implement, and continually improve ActBlue’s internal IT systems, ensuring they meet the needs of a wide variety of stakeholders and stay aligned with evolving compliance, operational, and industry standards. In this role, you will help uphold data protection practices, manage access and identity infrastructure, and contribute to technical decisions that shape the day-to-day experience of a distributed team.
This position requires a strong technical foundation and a growing understanding of how system architecture connects to organizational compliance needs — including SOC 2, GDPR, and CCPA. You will identify and help reduce risk across systems, build and implement automation, and help embed data privacy and security into how ActBlue manages information and operations.
This role reports to the Sr. IT Manager and is part of the Systems Administration team, partnering closely with our Desktop Support team and collaborating cross-departmentally to deliver solutions that support the broader goals of the organization.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
- Configure, deploy, and manage secure, cloud-based IT systems — with a focus on identity management, MDM, endpoint security, and SaaS integrations
- Partner with Security, Legal, and Data Governance stakeholders to ensure IT systems meet regulatory requirements, internal controls, and proper security configurations
- Manage user identity lifecycle and access control, including implementation of RBAC, least privilege principles, and regular access audits
- Develop and implement technical controls for data governance, including data classification, data retention, data loss prevention, and secure data handling procedures
- Create and maintain systems documentation, playbooks, and user-facing knowledge resources to support IT operations and cross-functional alignment
- Design and implement IT process automation (e.g., onboarding/offboarding, software provisioning, and compliance checklists)
- Support internal audits and evidence gathering for compliance reporting, including review of logs, change management records, and security controls
- Stay current on evolving regulatory, privacy, and security standards to ensure systems remain aligned with industry best practices
- Contribute to IT project delivery in partnership with cross-functional teams, including project planning, vendor coordination, and implementation
WHAT YOU BRING
- 3+ years of experience in systems administration, with experience developing and implementing compliance- and security-driven projects
- Working knowledge of identity and access management platforms, MDM tools, and core productivity/collaboration suites, along with experience applying endpoint hardening and security configuration best practices
- Strong familiarity with macOS environments, including enforcing security policies, maintaining governance standards, and managing patch compliance across a device fleet
- Experience integrating SaaS tools and platforms, including planning and executing system and data migrations
- Exposure to workflow automation and orchestration tools, as well as emerging agentic or AI-driven tools that streamline IT operations
- Experience implementing data governance controls and operationalizing data privacy standards. Also familiar with relevant compliance frameworks (e.g., SOC 1 & 2, NIST, PCI DSS), as well as e-discovery and data handling policies and procedures
- Diligent and intentful in day-to-day work, with strong attention to detail and follow-through
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills — especially in technical documentation, policy writing, and cross-functional collaboration
- A proactive, collaborative mindset and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment
- Commitment to equity, accessibility, and a people-first approach to systems design and support
