Individual should have two (2) plus years of civil/structural design experience in an engineering consulting company, industrial, manufacturing or oil & gas company. Employee may be required to go out into the field to clarify client requirements.
Responsibilities
Perform technical responsibilities required of a Structural Designer
Be eager and open to gaining structural experience from department colleagues
Perform field walkdowns without assistance with a project team
Proactively coordinate project activities between Structural and other disciplines
Create and review project structural deliverables
Mentor less experienced designers and technicians
Assist with Scope Development and help maintain Budget Control for the CAD team on projects
Demonstrate expertise with Valdes' structural engineering work practices
Demonstrate expertise in using Revit and Navisworks in 3D modeling
Prepare structural scopes of work and material take-offs
Develop a refined understanding of construction drawings such as Plans, Sections, Details, and Piping Isometrics
Continue to develop expertise with prevalent structural industry codes, standards, and practices from a drawing perspective (i.e., AISC, ACI)
Detail both concrete and steel connections
Effectively support CAD efforts outside of CSA when necessary
Perform and support CAD audits
Qualifications
Education: High School diploma, Associated Degree or higher preferred
Experience: 2+ years of experience working in the design or drafting field
Demonstrate technical competencies required of a Structural Designer
Detail both concrete and steel connections
Skillful 2D and 3D CAD expertise
Basic Microsoft Office skills
Revit experience a plus
Navisworks experience is a plus
Must possess exceptional interpersonal and organizational skills
Must be able to work in the US without sponsorship now or in the future
