Job Description

Purpose of the role

To collaborate, nurture and drive group innovation with internal and external stakeholders to ensure the bank stays at the forefront of innovation and adapts to the rapidly changing landscape in financial services and increasing customer expectations. 

Accountabilities

  • Collaboration with a range of stakeholders to develop a portfolio of open innovation and strategic initiatives through experimentation, co-creation, access to innovative technology capabilities, products and services and a global innovation ecosystem.
  • Development and delivery of frameworks, ideation, training and tools to build a culture of innovation and knowledge sharing to enable new and creative ideas/solutions that deliver on the bank’s strategy.
  • Provision of a global platform and curated ecosystem of partners to inform strategy, drive connectivity and new insights.
  • Development of the strategic capabilities and programmes for the bank to deliver on its strategy, supporting the exploration, evaluation and execution of innovation and investment opportunities.
  • Management and coordination between external stakeholders/partners and the bank, to successfully deliver joint projects and initiatives.
  • Deliver thought leadership and insights to inform strategic decision making and organisational readiness, in conjunction with regular research, identifying emerging technologies and trends.
  • Development and management of key metrics including key partnerships, innovation initiatives and impact through regular assessments to calculate the return on investment and identify any potential risks and issues.

  • Act as contact point for stakeholders outside of the immediate function, while building a network of contacts outside team and external to the organisation.

Join Barclays as a Strategy & Insights Analyst, where you will support the delivery of the Group Innovation and Partnerships Strategy & Insights agenda through market intelligence, customer and industry research, strategic analysis, and executive-ready insight generation. Working within a highly visible team, you will help shape Barclays' innovation priorities by analysing market and technology trends, producing thought leadership, horizon-scanning and predictive insight papers, and translating complex information into clear, actionable recommendations. This role offers broad exposure across the business, partnering with senior stakeholders to support innovation initiatives, portfolio governance activities, and evidence-based decision making that enables Barclays to identify, assess, and act on emerging opportunities and risks.

Please note that this is a 12-month fixed-term contract.

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Ability to research market, customer, competitor and technology developments; analyse qualitative and quantitative information; and translate findings into clear, evidence-led recommendations.
  • Ability to communicate complex information concisely, produce high-quality, decision-ready presentations and briefings, and tailor content effectively for senior stakeholders and external partners.
  • Strong organisation and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining effective oversight of actions, risks, controls, decisions and dependencies.

Some other highly valued skills include:

  • Curiosity and practical understanding of AI, digital platforms and emerging technologies, including how they could improve customer outcomes, efficiency, insight or control.
  • Previous exposure to innovation, strategy, market intelligence, commercial analysis, governance, reporting or programme delivery within financial services or a similarly regulated environment.
  • Ability to learn quickly, seek and act on feedback, adapt to new subject areas and proactively build capability over time.

You may be assessed on the key critical skills relevant for success in role, such as risk and controls, change and transformation, business acumen, strategic thinking and digital and technology, as well as job-specific technical skills.

The successful candidate can be based in London (Luke Street) or Glasgow Campus.
