Konica Minolta Sensing Americas, Inc. (KMSA) provides advanced measurement and sensing solutions that help organizations improve quality, productivity, and performance across a wide range of industries.

The Senior Accountant plays a key role in supporting the accuracy, integrity, and efficiency of KMSA’s accounting and financial reporting activities. Reporting to the Director of Accounting, this position is responsible for a broad range of accounting functions, including general ledger accounting, financial reporting, inventory and cost accounting, fixed assets, deferred revenue, lease accounting, banking and cash reconciliations, audit support, tax support, and process improvement initiatives.

The Senior Accountant also supports selected Accounts Receivable activities and related financial reporting. This role contributes to the maintenance of effective internal controls, identifies opportunities to improve accounting processes, supports internal and external audits, and provides guidance and mentorship to less experienced accounting team members.

Requirements

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Accounting

•         Manage and maintain accounts receivable and accounts payable activities.

•         Support investigation and resolution of discrepancies involving customers/vendors’ payments, invoices, credits, or account balances.

•         Assist with reconciliation intercompany Accounts Receivable/Accounts Payables balances as assigned

•         Prepare and maintain accurate account reconciliations, including bank, balance sheet, and other general ledger accounts.

•         Prepare and post month-end journal entries, accruals, adjustments, and other general ledger transactions.

•         Prepare assigned monthly account reconciliations and supporting reporting according to the established close schedule.

•         Review revenue and expenses to ensure completeness, accuracy, proper classification, and appropriate period recognition.

•         Investigate and resolve account discrepancies and unusual financial activity.

•         Assist internal and external vendors/customers’ various requirements and inquiries.

•         Maintain fixed asset accounting records, including acquisitions, disposals, transfers, depreciation, and related reconciliations.

•         Compute, maintain, and prepare deferred revenue schedules and administer related journal entries.

•         Prepare lease accounting schedules, reconciliations, and journal entries in accordance with applicable accounting standards.

•          Investigate discrepancies and resolve accounting issues in a timely manner.

•          Maintain accurate and organized accounting records and support documentation

•         Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end financial close activities.

•         Assist with audit requests and provide support schedules and documentation as needed.

•         Work collaboratively with other departments to resolve accounting and financial issues.

 Provide support to other members of the accounting team as needed.

·         Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, controls, and efficiency

•         Provide backup support as needed to support department operations

Inventory Management

•         Oversee inventory costing processes, ensuring accurate recording and reporting of material and goods costs.

•         Monitor slow-moving and obsolete inventory and assist with adjustments to reserves and management reporting related to inventory valuation.

•         Prepare inventory-related reconciliations, reports, and journal entries.

•         Administer annual inventory count documentation and support physical inventory counts.

•         Investigate inventory discrepancies and reconcile physical inventory results to accounting records.

•         Coordinate with auditors regarding inventory documentation, testing, and reconciliation.

Reporting and Analysis

·         Prepare assigned financial reports and supporting analysis according to established reporting schedules.

•         Assist with preparation of financial statements and internal management reports.

•         Review financial activity and account trends and communicate significant findings or discrepancies to the Director of Accounting.

•         Prepare routine and ad hoc reports related to inventory, payroll, fixed assets, deferred revenue, cash, and other assigned accounting areas.

•         Support quarterly and annual financial reporting requirements.

•         Assist with the preparation and review of income tax reporting and other financial information requested by tax advisors or corporate headquarters.

Audits & Examinations

•         Serve as a point of contact for internal and external auditors for assigned accounting areas.

•         Prepare audit schedules and supporting documentation and ensure timely delivery of requested information.

•         Assist with financial, tax, payroll, and other audits or examinations.

•         Assist with documentation and monitoring of internal controls.

•         Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards, company policies, and internal accounting procedures.

Process Improvement & Automation

•         Identify opportunities for improvement in accounting processes and procedures.

•         Recommend and assist with implementation of automation tools and process improvements to increase efficiency and accuracy.

•         Develop and maintain accounting procedures, schedules, reconciliations, and supporting documentation.

•         Assist the Director of Accounting with strengthening financial controls and standardizing Accounting processes.

Other

•         Collaborate with internal departments to resolve accounting and financial reporting matters.

•         Mentor and provide guidance to less experienced members of the Accounting team as appropriate.

•         Participate in cross-functional projects and strategic initiatives.

•         Conform with and abide by all regulatory guidance and internal policies and procedures.

•         Maintain and protect confidential financial and employee information.

•         Contribute to department and organizational special projects as assigned.

•         Perform other duties and responsibilities as requested by the Director of Accounting.

 

Desired Skills & Experience

•         Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required. CPA or equivalent certification preferred but not required.

•         Five or more years of progressive accounting experience preferred.

•         Strong understanding of the general ledger, income statement, balance sheet, account reconciliations, and month-end close processes.

•         Working knowledge of Accounts Receivable/Accounts Payable processes and cash application.

•         Experience with inventory management and cost accounting.

•         Strong knowledge of GAAP. Working knowledge of IFRS preferred.

•         Experience with fixed assets, deferred revenue, lease accounting, tax reporting, audits, and internal controls preferred.

 

Payroll

•         Partner with Human Resources and Accounting on payroll related matters and support effective coordination across the payroll process.

•         Serve as backup to the designated payroll processor and provide continuity support as needed.

•         Provide oversight and review of payroll activities to support accuracy, completeness, and timely processing.

•         Review payroll related information and identify discrepancies, exceptions, or items requiring follow up.

•         Support payroll reconciliations, financial review, and related accounting activities.

•         Maintain working knowledge of payroll processes, controls, and procedures to ensure appropriate backup coverage.

•         Maintain confidentiality of payroll, compensation, employee, and financial information.

 

Additional Skills and Qualifications

•         Intermediate to advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, or similar programs.

•         Intermediate to advanced knowledge of major accounting or ERP software systems. Microsoft Dynamics experience is a plus.

•         Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

•         Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet established deadlines.

•         Ability to work independently with minimal guidance and take ownership of assigned work.

•         Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.

•         Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with employees, management, Human Resources, external auditors, and other business partners.

•         Strong ethics, integrity, and understanding of the importance of confidentiality.

•         Experience mentoring or developing other members of an Accounting or Finance team preferred.

BASE PAY RANGE:
$95,000 - $115,000 DOS/E

This position is eligible for experience specific compensation ranges based on candidate experience; compensation will be aligned and determined based on these criteria. Fluctuations in the job market may necessitate adjustments to pay ranges. Final pay determinations will depend on various factors, including, but not limited to experience levels, knowledge, skills, and abilities.
