Johnson Controls helps protect people and property through fire protection and life safety solutions. In this role, you will support the service, maintenance, and repair of sprinkler and suppression systems while building hands-on experience in a structured apprenticeship environment.
Role Overview
As a Sprinkler Helper, you will work alongside the Lead Fire Sprinkler Fitter to assist with testing, troubleshooting, service, and repair activities on fire sprinkler and suppression life safety product lines. This is a hands-on trade role focused on safety, quality workmanship, and learning the technical foundations of fire protection work.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist the Lead Fire Sprinkler Fitter with service, maintenance, and repairs on sprinkler and suppression life safety product lines.
- Support testing and troubleshooting activities for fire sprinkler systems.
- Follow prescribed troubleshooting procedures and use technical manuals, part manuals, change notices, bulletins, and modification notices to help diagnose and repair equipment and systems.
- Complete inspection reports and repair documents with proper coding using a smartphone, laptop, or hard copy documentation.
- Follow a structured service schedule and complete assigned work in an organized manner.
- Perform duties with safety in mind at all times.

- You will learn continuously through the apprenticeship program and use feedback to build your technical skills.
Qualifications
- Valid driver’s license and a driving record that meets company requirements.
- Reliable transportation
- Ability to pass a pre-employment background check and drug test.
- Ability to use hand tools.
- Understanding of quality service
Nice to Have
- Experience working with fire sprinkler systems or other life safety systems.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, schematics, submittals, and operational or product manuals.
HIRING HOURLY RANGE: $15-$21 (Hourly rate to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.)
