Senior Software Engineer/ Manager (Backend Golang/ Frontend Web & Mobile)

Work Location: Technopark Tower, Gia Lam, Hanoi 

We are looking for a Software Engineer Manager (Backend) to lead the Backend engineering team for our all-in-one AI virtual assistant product, owning technical execution and team management for all backend services.  

You will manage the entire Backend engineering team on the project and report into the Head of Software Engineering, who oversees the full engineering organization for the project. Our primary technology stack for Backend is Golang.  

This is a hands-on leadership role that balances people management with deep technical expertise in Golang, working closely with the Head of Software Engineering, the Frontend team, AI/ML, DevOps, and QA to deliver a reliable, scalable virtual assistant experience.  

What You Will Do  

Lead the Backend engineering team  

• ·               Manage, mentor, and grow a team of Backend engineers building services in Golang.  
• ·               Set clear goals, priorities, and sprint plans for the Backend team.  
• ·               Conduct performance reviews, career development planning, and regular 1:1s.  
• ·               Recruit, interview, and onboard Backend engineers as the team scales.  

Own Backend architecture and code quality  

• ·               Define and maintain the Backend architecture and microservices built in Golang that power the virtual assistant.  
• ·               Set Backend engineering standards for code quality, testing, code review, and documentation.  
• ·               Ensure Backend services are scalable, secure, performant, and highly available.  
• ·               Make key Backend technology, infrastructure, and build-vs-buy decisions in collaboration with senior Backend engineers.  

Drive Backend delivery  

• ·               Plan and manage Backend sprints, releases, and roadmaps in partnership with the Head of Software Engineering and Product Management.  
• ·               Break down product requirements into actionable Backend technical tasks with realistic estimates.  
• ·               Coordinate closely with Frontend engineers to align on APIs, data contracts, and integration timelines.  
• ·               Track Backend engineering metrics such as velocity, quality, uptime, and incident response, and continuously improve delivery predictability.  

Collaborate across functions  

• ·               Partner with Frontend, AI/ML, DevOps, Product, and QA to translate product requirements into robust backend systems.  
• ·               Work with AI/ML teams to expose and scale the APIs and infrastructure needed for conversational AI and automation capabilities.  
• ·               Communicate Backend technical trade-offs, risks, and timelines clearly to the Head of Software Engineering and other stakeholders.  
• ·               Represent the Backend team in cross-functional planning and prioritization discussions.  

Ensure reliability and operational excellence  

• ·               Own the reliability, availability, and performance of all Backend services.  
• ·               Establish monitoring, alerting, and incident-response practices for Backend systems.  
• ·               Drive continuous improvement in CI/CD, test automation, and release processes for Backend services.  
• ·               Champion security and data-privacy best practices across the Backend organization.  

Build a strong Backend engineering culture  

• ·               Foster a culture of ownership, collaboration, and technical excellence within the Backend team.  
• ·               Mentor engineers and grow future Backend tech leads.  
• ·               Establish and evolve Golang coding standards, service templates, and technical documentation.  
• ·               Encourage knowledge-sharing across Backend engineering disciplines.  

What We Are Looking For  

• ·               Proven experience managing and growing a Backend engineering team.  
• ·               Strong hands-on expertise in Golang for building scalable backend services and microservices.  
• ·               Solid understanding of backend architecture, distributed systems, databases, and API design (REST/gRPC).  
• ·               Experience with cloud infrastructure, containerization, and orchestration (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).  
• ·               Experience with CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and release management for backend services.  
• ·               Strong people-management skills, including hiring, coaching, performance management, and career development.  
• ·               Ability to balance hands-on technical leadership with day-to-day team management.  
• ·               Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work with Frontend, Product, AI/ML, DevOps, and leadership.  
• ·               High ownership, sound judgment, and strong focus on system reliability and performance.  
• ·               Strong written and verbal communication skills in both Vietnamese and English.

• ·               Experience building backend systems for AI assistants, chat-based products, or high-scale consumer platforms is a strong advantage.
