Purpose:

The Sr. Manager, GD Business Operations Communications is responsible for supporting the planning, coordination, and execution of GD business operations communications within the Business Growth, Innovation and Advocacy (BGIA) team.

The Sr. Manager partners with the Director, Global Development Strategy and Operations, the Sr. Director, GD Strategy & Operations, and the VP, GD Bus Ops and Partnerships to support strategy execution, leadership enablement, organizational priorities, cross-functional coordination and business planning. This person is accountable for equipping people managers and employees within GD with the information they need to help execute business priorities across a large global organization.

The Sr. Manager will draft high-quality, engaging content for various internal channels (Home articles, Viva Engage, newsletters, leadership videos, leadership emails, and other avenues as needed), ensuring consistent messaging and branding across all platforms. This person will also plan and deliver town halls and leadership forums.

This role works to support organizational change, including change management planning and execution and change communications. The Sr. Manager will help drive adoption of strategic initiatives while helping leaders navigate transformation.

The Sr. Manager will also contribute to establishing metrics and key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the effectiveness of these initiatives, and will be accountable for analyzing data and feedback to continuously improve strategies. The role provides additional support to the Director, Global Development Strategy and Operations as needed, while partnering with and leveraging self-service resources from the Innovative Medicine (IM) Communications & Public Affairs (CPA) team.

You will be responsible for:

  • Draft and produce high-quality, engaging GD-specific content across multiple channels and modern approaches to enable employee engagement and comprehension — inclusive of articles, newsletters, town halls, leadership memos, executive and leader communications, Viva Engage, and other internal channels as needed, leveraging Employee Communications Self-Service resources from the IM CPA team.
  • Help coordinate the delivery and tracking of GD business initiatives across all functions in partnership with the Director, Global Development Strategy and Operations; align with Enterprise GCA on macro-level messaging when appropriate; manage newsletter development and facilitate effective delivery of messaging.
  • Ensure plans align to active change initiatives and support consistent messaging across GD without owning change methodology, frameworks, or governance.
  • Support development and execution of select external initiatives including annual Clinical Trials Awareness Week and GD leader LinkedIn posts.

Qualifications / Requirements:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Communications or a related field.
  • 8-10+ years of experience in a communications role, preferably within the pharmaceutical industry.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to translate complex business topics into clear, leader-ready content.
  • Strong editorial content development and editing skills, with experience producing executive communications and content series (e.g., newsletters, video scripts, leader memos, social content).
  • Strong collaboration and team capabilities in a global, matrixed environment.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to support innovative communication strategies.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365 tools, including Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, PowerPoint, Excel, and Copilot; comfort working with AI.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and handle multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Proficiency in digital communication tools, internal social communications platforms (e.g., Viva Engage), and content management systems.
  • Experience working in cross-functional teams and partnering with change management practitioners to align communications to large-scale transformation efforts.
  • Ability to drive a Credo-based culture, including an inclusive environment.
  • Up to 20% travel, domestic and international.

Preferred:

  • Preferred Area of Study: Journalism, public relations / public affairs, or related area.
  • Preferred Related Industry Experience: Experience supporting change management and behavior change in large complex organizations is highly preferred. Experience supporting external communications agency relationships and scopes-of-work is preferred.
  • Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Other relevant experiences and skills may be considered by the hiring manager when considering the candidate's eligibility.
  • Familiarity with LinkedIn / earned media coordination and external agency partnership preferred.
