Want to help us help others? We’re hiring!

GoFundMe is the world’s most powerful community for good, dedicated to helping people help each other. By uniting individuals and nonprofits in one place, GoFundMe makes it easy and safe for people to ask for help and support causes, for themselves and each other. Together, our community has raised more than $40 billion since 2010.

Join us! The GoFundMe team is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join our Developer Experience team. DevEx builds the platform our engineers build on: the ephemeral and local development environments, the CI/CD pipelines, the internal developer portal, and the paved roads that let hundreds of engineers ship to production quickly, safely, and without needing to become infrastructure experts first.

Your customers are engineers, and the product is their day. You will own systems where a five-minute improvement compounds across every team in the company, and where reliability is measured in whether someone’s Monday morning starts with working code or a broken environment. It is a role for someone who thinks of internal tooling as a real product (with users, adoption curves, and a quality bar) and who wants that craft pointed at a platform that has moved more than $40 billion to causes that matter.

This is a hybrid position. Candidates considered for this role will be located in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

The Job

  • Own and evolve our ephemeral and local development environments (Kubernetes, DevSpace, vCluster): production-like environments on demand, kept fast and trustworthy as the platform grows.
  • Design, build, and harden CI/CD on GitHub Actions: shared and reusable workflows, self-hosted runners, build performance, and the reliability standards that make a red build mean something.
  • Help build our Internal Developer Portal and its golden paths (service scaffolding, ownership and catalog data, self-service infrastructure), and own the adoption work that gets teams using them.
  • Define and track the DevEx metrics that matter (build and test times, environment reliability, lead time to production, change failure rate) and use them to help the team decide what to work on next.
  • Put AI-assisted development into practice (agentic workflows, AI-assisted review and test generation) and help enable AI tooling securely across the engineering org.
  • Partner with Security and Compliance to make the paved road the compliant road, encoding SOC 2 and PCI controls into pipelines and repository governance rather than checklists.
  • Work directly with product engineering teams to find where the friction actually is, and treat their pain points as your backlog.
  • Mentor engineers through code review, pairing, and documentation, and lead projects from conception through adoption.

You

  • Have 5+ years of professional software engineering experience, with meaningful time spent on developer experience, platform engineering, or engineering productivity work.
  • Are a strong hands-on engineer first: you write production-quality code in at least one general-purpose language (Go, Python, TypeScript/Node, or similar) and build tools, not just configure them.
  • Have deep, practical Kubernetes experience: not only deploying to it, but debugging it, and abstracting it away so other engineers don’t have to learn it.
  • Have built and operated CI/CD systems at scale, and can speak concretely about how you made pipelines faster, cheaper, or more reliable, and proved it.
  • Are fluent with infrastructure as code (Terraform preferred) and comfortable owning cloud infrastructure on AWS.
  • Take a product mindset toward internal tooling: you measure adoption, talk to your users, write the docs, and know that a great tool nobody uses is a failed project.
  • Communicate and influence well across a distributed engineering org, partnering with US-based teams and writing clearly in English. Much of this role is convincing engineers to take a better path, so clarity and empathy matter as much as the code.

Preferred

  • Strong observability instincts: you diagnose with logs, metrics, and traces, and instrument systems so the next person doesn’t have to guess.
  • Experience with an internal developer portal (Cortex, Backstage, Port, or similar), including the migration and adoption work, not just the install.
  • Experience with ephemeral or on-demand preview environments and the cost, isolation, and data-seeding problems that come with them.
  • Experience running event-driven infrastructure locally and in CI (Kafka, LocalStack, or similar).
  • Demonstrated use of AI development tooling (agentic workflows, AI-assisted review or test generation) in production engineering workflows.
  • Experience with secrets management and platform security (Vault, OIDC-based cloud auth, supply-chain and repository controls), and encoding compliance controls (SOC 2, PCI) into automation.
