Job Description:
Blue Water Thinking is seeking an experienced Senior Data Analyst to support the design, development, and maintenance of enterprise data, automation, and reporting solutions using the Microsoft Power Platform. This role is responsible for developing and supporting Dataverse solutions, automating business processes, troubleshooting data integrations, and delivering reporting and analytics capabilities through Power BI. The ideal candidate will possess hands-on experience with Dataverse, Power Automate, Power Query, Power BI, Dataflows, and Power Platform Application Lifecycle Management (ALM) practices. The majority of data consumed by this role originates from enterprise applications, SharePoint, Excel workbooks, MicroStrategy exports, CSV files, and other file-based sources. Candidates should be comfortable working with diverse data sources and leveraging Power Platform tools to transform, manage, and deliver business solutions. Experience developing Power Apps solutions is highly desirable.
Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and maintain enterprise data solutions using Dataverse, SharePoint, Microsoft 365, file-based data sources, and approved enterprise systems.
- Create and maintain Dataverse tables, relationships, business rules, security roles, and scalable data models.
- Develop and support Power Automate cloud flows, business process flows, and workflow automation solutions.
- Develop Power BI semantic models, datasets, dashboards, reports, and dataflows utilizing DAX and Power Query best practices.
- Troubleshoot and optimize Power Query transformations, dataflows, refresh processes, dataset performance, and reporting solutions.
- Integrate solutions with Microsoft 365 services, SharePoint, Teams, Outlook, Dynamics 365, and authorized external APIs.
- Support data ingestion, transformation, validation, and reporting processes from enterprise systems and file-based data sources.
- Deploy and manage Power Platform solutions across Development, Test, and Production environments using ALM best practices.
- Maintain technical documentation, release notes, test cases, solution diagrams, and support procedures.
- Provide Level II/III support, troubleshoot production issues, manage enhancements, and conduct user training and knowledge transfer.
- Collaborate with business stakeholders to gather requirements and translate business needs into scalable Power Platform solutions.
- Participate in solution design discussions, architecture reviews, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Minimum Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience delivering enterprise data, reporting, automation, or Power Platform solutions.
- MUST have proven experience using Azure Databricks
- Hands-on experience designing, developing, and supporting solutions using:
- Dataverse
- Power Automate
- Power BI (semantic models, DAX, reporting, and dashboard development)
- Power Query
- Power BI Dataflows and data transformation processes
- Experience designing and maintaining Dataverse data models, relationships, business rules, security roles, and scalable enterprise solutions.
- Experience developing and supporting production Power Automate solutions.
- Experience developing and supporting production Power BI reports, datasets, semantic models, dashboards, and dataflows.
- Proficiency with:
- DAX
- Power Fx
- JSON
- REST APIs
- Microsoft 365 integrations
- Experience troubleshooting dataflows, refresh failures, data quality issues, and production support incidents.
- Experience deploying and supporting solutions using Power Platform ALM practices.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, communication, and documentation skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience developing Canvas Apps and Model-Driven Apps using Dataverse.
- Experience integrating Power Platform solutions with SharePoint, Teams, Outlook, Dynamics 365, external APIs, and other enterprise applications.
- Experience working with Excel, CSV, SharePoint, MicroStrategy exports, and other file-based data sources to support data ingestion, automation, reporting, and analytics solutions.
- Familiarity with SQL and relational database concepts.
- Experience with GitHub or Azure DevOps for source control, release management, and deployment pipelines.
- Experience designing, implementing, or supporting enterprise data lake and analytics platforms.
- Experience with Microsoft Fabric, OneLake, Azure Data Lake Storage, Data Factory, or similar cloud-based analytics technologies.
- Experience with enterprise data governance, security, retention, auditing, and compliance requirements.
- Experience supporting Power Platform solutions in healthcare, federal government, or other complex enterprise environments.

Compensation:
Salary for this position is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, location, the candidate’s particular combination of knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract specific affordability and organizational requirements. The proposed salary range for this position is outlined below.
Salary Range: $135,000 - $150,000
