Position Name: Senior Admissions Counselor

Classification: Exempt

FTE: 37.5

Work Hours: 8-4:30 M-F; Occasional nights and weekends as required.

2. POSITION SUMMARY

UWS Senior Admissions Counselor supports prospective students through all stages of the recruitment and application processes to help students apply to programs and matriculate for the University to meet its enrollment goals. The Senior Admissions Counselor is responsible for recruitment communications directed toward prospective students. This position is also responsible for assisting prospective students in the decision-making process relative to the academic, schedule, time, motivation, and cost benefits of attending UWS. The Senior Admissions Counselor is involved with staff, faculty, administrators, and students and plays an active role in the campus community and events.  The position is the lead admissions counselor responsible for mentorship of the other admissions counselors, which may include training and coaching opportunities, and may assume manager responsibilities in the absence of direct supervisor.

This position is hybrid and on-campus 2-3 days a week.

3. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Recruitment: Student-Focus (60%)

• Advise prospective students on admissions requirements and application processes for all programs offered at UWS.
• Work with Global Engagement to advise international on campus students of admissions
• Clearly articulate the mission and value of the university to prospective students.
• Provides superior customer service to students through the entire admission process.
• Respond to all new inquiries quickly and maintain consistent communication with all students throughout the admission process.
• Complete a high level of outbound calls per day to reach prospective students in a timely manner.
• Conduct telephone-based, virtual, and in person consultations to qualify prospective students on their educational goals and interests, to explain available academic programs, to advise them on admission requirements, and to ensure that all admission paperwork is completed properly. Provides more in-depth counseling for undecided students.
• Coordinate with the director of admissions to develop and enhance engagement strategies with prospective students and applicants.
• Lead the virtual webinars and information sessions for prospective students.
• Complete advisor review of applications and pre-evaluation of transcripts.
• Serve as back-up lead for admissions decision processing and interview scheduling
• Supports international students of specialized groups through the processing of immigration documents and requests through the Student and Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS) platform.
• Serves as office’s primary Designated School Official (DSO) with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security for international students
• Collaborates with Primary Designated School Official (PDSO) to transfer, enter, sign, and issue various I-20 forms.
• Participate in recruitment events.
• Travel may be required for recruiting events at peak times.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Lead Management and CRM/Systems Update (15%)

• Effectively maintains Salesforce database through inquiry management, proper documentation, logging of calls and activities, and purposeful engagement strategy.

Leadership (15%)

• Serve as the lead admissions counselor and mentor to the admissions counselor team. Mentorship may include leading group or individual meetings with admissions counselors or subcommittees as assigned by the Senior Director of Admissions (i.e. recruitment, campus visits, events). *Note that ultimate supervisory authority and responsibilities rests with the Senior Director of Admissions.
• Collaborate with the Senior Director of Admissions to provide ongoing training and coaching to the other admissions counselors.
• Serve as the liaison to the Global Engagement team to ensure an efficient process for prospective international students.

Professionalism, Teamwork and Relationship-Building (10%)

• Serve as the lead member of the Admissions team to recruit and enroll qualified and motivated students to UWS academic programs.

• Work closely with Director/Senior Director of Admissions on staffing plans, lead assignments, outreach and partnership development, etc.
• Co-lead and support on-campus and online events as directed by Director/Senior Director of Admissions working closely with academic leaders, and others to ensure excellent experience for participants.
• Build and maintain relationships with health professionals and academic program advisors, counselors, and faculty at feeder institutions.
• Employ general knowledge of accreditation standards and licensing requirements.
• Consistently achieve behavioral and performance expectations as outlined in the annual performance review.
• Encourage a healthy and productive working relationship between Enrollment Services and other UWS departments.
• Practice a high standard of ethics and integrity.
• Other duties as assigned.

5. POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

Required

Education & Training: Bachelor’s degree 

Experience: Previous admissions experience.

Related Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities: Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite.

Other Qualifications: The ability to work evenings and weekends is required; some occasional travel may also be required.

Preferred

Experience: A minimum of 1 year of recruitment experience or similar background is preferred.

Related Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities: Knowledge of database/CRM applications encouraged.  Salesforce experience preferred.

Compensation & Benefits

This opportunity is budgeted at $55,000-65,000 annually base compensation. Additional compensation factors may impact total compensation.
