What this job involves:

As a Senior Accounting Controller within JLL's Shared Services Center, you'll oversee financial and accounting operations across multiple Latin American markets, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and seamless cross-border financial reporting. This role sits at the intersection of technical accounting expertise and leadership, requiring you to manage complex multi-country financial processes while maintaining rigorous internal controls and external reporting standards. You'll serve as a trusted advisor to operational teams and corporate finance, translating financial data into actionable insights that drive business decisions. What your day-to-day will look like:

• Lead the monthly close process for assigned markets, ensuring all financial deliverables are accurate, complete, and submitted on time while maintaining the highest standards of quality control

• Prepare and review complex journal entries, maintain general ledger accounts, and perform detailed account reconciliations to ensure financial statement accuracy across multiple entities

• Oversee revenue recognition in accordance with applicable accounting standards, collaborating with financial analysts to ensure proper treatment of client accounts and service billings

• Analyze revenue by client and provide detailed reporting to operational teams and headquarters, identifying trends and addressing discrepancies proactively

• Maintain and strengthen internal control procedures across all assigned markets, conducting bank reconciliations and validating payroll cost accounting for proper allocation

• Coordinate with external auditors during annual audits, providing requested documentation and explanations while ensuring audit readiness throughout the year

• Monitor accounts receivable aging and coordinate collection efforts with operational teams, analyzing collection trends and identifying potential credit risks before they materialize

• Provide guidance and mentorship to junior team members, reviewing the work of financial analysts and fostering their professional development through constructive feedback

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including operations, tax, and corporate finance to ensure efficient information flow and continuous process improvement

Required qualifications:

• Minimum 10 years of progressive experience in accounting or financial controllership roles, with demonstrated ability to manage increasing levels of complexity and responsibility

• Previous experience in public accounting firms, preferably Big Four audit or advisory practices, with exposure to diverse clients and accounting challenges

• Proven experience managing multi-country financial operations or working in shared services environments with responsibility for multiple entities or markets

• Strong working knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and/or United States Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (US GAAP)

• Advanced proficiency in Excel and financial reporting tools, with ability to manipulate large datasets and create meaningful analytical outputs

• Professional-level English proficiency (written and oral) at intermediate-advanced level, with ability to communicate complex financial concepts clearly to stakeholders across multiple countries

• Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills with meticulous attention to detail and ability to identify issues before they become problems

• Strong organizational capabilities with proven ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously in fast-paced environments

Preferred qualifications:

• Experience with accounting systems, particularly PeopleSoft, though other ERP system experience will be considered

• Demonstrated experience with monthly close processes, financial consolidation, and statutory reporting across multiple jurisdictions

• Track record of process improvement initiatives that enhanced efficiency or strengthened internal controls within accounting operations

• CPA, CMA, or equivalent professional accounting certification

• Experience in real estate, property management, or professional services industries
