WHAT ZEROFOX WILL LOOK LIKE TO YOU
State agencies, cities, counties, and school districts are getting hit by ransomware, phishing, and impersonation campaigns as hard as any Fortune 500 — with a fraction of the budget and a board or superintendent who has to approve every dollar. ZeroFox's SLED business is growing because these targets can't out-hire their way to safety; they need a platform that does more with less. This role brings that pitch to the customers who need it most and can least afford to get security spend wrong.
THE ROLE
You'll build and close new business across state agencies, municipalities, counties, and K–12 or higher-ed institutions in your territory — often navigating a school board approval process or a state purchasing co-op as much as a security buyer's technical evaluation. You'll qualify fast, since SLED deal sizes typically run smaller than commercial or federal, and volume and velocity matter more than they do elsewhere.
You'll work with the co-op purchasing vehicles — state term contracts, NASPO ValuePoint, Sourcewell, or similar — that let public sector buyers move faster than a from-scratch RFP. Success looks like a full pipeline of qualified opportunities and a closing cadence that reflects the shorter, faster-moving nature of this market.
In your first 90 days, you'd be expected to build your territory account list, get certified on the co-op vehicles ZeroFox is on, and have your first qualified opportunity in a validated pipeline stage.
YOU'LL THRIVE HERE IF...
- You can run a high-velocity pipeline — more accounts, shorter cycles, faster qualification than a typical federal or enterprise motion
- You're comfortable navigating public-sector budget realities, board approvals, and fiscal year timing without losing patience
- You've sold into state, local government, or education before and know how a co-op purchasing vehicle actually works
- You can talk to a school district CTO and a state CISO in the same week and adjust your pitch to what each of them actually cares about
- You track your pipeline honestly — you know the difference between a real opportunity and one that's stuck waiting on a budget cycle
THIS PROBABLY ISN'T FOR YOU IF...
- You're used to a small number of large, high-touch deals — this territory rewards volume and speed over depth on a handful of accounts
- Price sensitivity frustrates you — SLED budgets are real constraints, not a negotiating tactic
- You haven't worked co-op or cooperative purchasing vehicles before and would need to learn that from scratch
- You need every deal to close on your timeline rather than the buyer's fiscal calendar
- You're looking for a segment with minimal competition — SLED security budgets are contested territory
Requirements

- Experience managing a high-volume pipeline across many smaller accounts simultaneously
- Understanding of public sector procurement basics — RFPs, state contracts, or cooperative purchasing vehicles
- Strong discovery skills — ability to qualify fast and disqualify faster when the fit or budget isn't real
WOULD LOVE, BUT WON'T HOLD IT AGAINST YOU:
- Direct experience selling into state, local government, or K–12/higher-ed institutions
- Familiarity with co-op contract vehicles such as NASPO ValuePoint or Sourcewell
- Understanding of FERPA or other education-specific data privacy considerations
Benefits
- Comprehensive health, dental, and vision (Cigna)
