Job Description

Looking for New Grads!

  • We are open to new college graduates with anticipated graduation dates ranging between Dec 2026-Dec 2027

Description of the program

  • The Amcor EDGE Technical Development Program is a structured two-year rotational program designed to accelerate the development of early-career engineers into future manufacturing and technical leaders within Amcor Flexibles North America.
  • Through a combination of formal training, mentorship, hands-on manufacturing experience, and project leadership opportunities, participants will develop a strong foundation in manufacturing processes, problem-solving, continuous improvement, and operational excellence. Engineers in the EDGE Program gain exposure to multiple functions across the organization while building the technical and leadership skills necessary to make an immediate impact within our manufacturing network.

What You Will Do

Initial Development & Training

  • Participate in a structured onboarding and technical development program.

  • Receive mentorship and coaching from experienced technical and manufacturing leaders.

  • Gain hands-on experience with manufacturing processes, products, equipment, and systems.

  • Build analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills through real-world projects and assignments.

Manufacturing & Process Improvement

  • Support manufacturing process improvement initiatives focused on safety, quality, productivity, and efficiency.

  • Assist with identifying operational challenges and evaluating solutions.

  • Participate in continuous improvement activities utilizing Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, Green Belt, and Kaizen methodologies.

  • Collect and analyze data to identify opportunities for process optimization.

  • Assist with root cause investigations and corrective action implementation.

Project & Technical Support

  • Support engineering and capital projects through planning, execution, testing, and implementation activities.

  • Coordinate documentation, project materials, and technical information.

  • Assist with equipment installation, startup, commissioning, validation, and training activities.

  • Collaborate with manufacturing, engineering, quality, maintenance, and operations teams to achieve project objectives.

Cross-Functional Development

  • Gain exposure to various functional areas across the organization, including Manufacturing, Operations, Quality, Engineering, Sales, Marketing, and Research & Development.

  • Build relationships across the business to support both technical and professional development.

  • Participate in opportunities that strengthen leadership, communication, and project management skills.

Program Structure

Months 0-6: Manufacturing Foundations

Participants will develop a strong understanding of manufacturing operations through:

  • Safety and GMP training

  • Plant visits and facility tours

  • Value stream learning

  • Manufacturing basics, SOPs, and operational processes

  • Operator shadowing experiences

Months 6-12: Process & Product Fundamentals

Participants will build technical expertise through:

  • Material and product training

  • ERP and manufacturing systems training

  • Continuous Improvement and Kaizen activities

  • Green Belt project participation

  • Problem-solving methodology training

  • Product specification systems training

Months 12-24: Advanced Technical Development

Participants will further develop expertise through:

  • Advanced process knowledge

  • Manufacturing best practices

  • Troubleshooting complex process issues

  • Root cause analysis and corrective action implementation

  • Day-to-day operational support and process optimization

Program Completion

Upon successful completion of the program, participants will transition into a full-time engineering role within the organization and continue development as a technical and operational leader.

Qualifications

Required Education

Bachelor's degree in Engineering, including:

  • Chemical Engineering

  • Mechanical Engineering

  • Industrial Engineering

  • Materials Science Engineering

  • Or a related engineering discipline

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior manufacturing experience through internships, co-ops, research, or industry experience preferred.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Demonstrated leadership, initiative, and problem-solving abilities.

  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

  • Interest in manufacturing, process improvement, and operational leadership.
