Summary :
The RN Clinical Director is responsible for setting strategies and the future direction of nursing services in partnership with the physician medical director at ThedaCare. Is responsible for nursing care delivered including financial management and oversight, clinical quality, engagement, nursing research, workforce management, and professional practice. Provides leadership and creates a culture that supports the delivery of patient-centered, specialized, evidence-based nursing care across the continuum through an inter-professional approach to treatment, research, education, and advocacy. Is accountable for the delivery of compassionate and safe care within the scope of practice as defined by the Wisconsin Board of Nursing and ThedaCare policy. Is responsible for patient outcomes that meet high quality care standards through collaborative practice with members of the care team.Job Description:

ThedaCare Medical Center–New London is a 25-bed Critical Access Hospital serving patients in New London and the surrounding communities of Outagamie and Waupaca counties. The hospital provides high-quality, community-based care with access to specialists and resources across the larger network. The hospital also has the Joint Commission Gold Seal of Approval and Press Ganey Commitment to Excellence Award.
ThedaCare Medical Center–Waupaca is a 25-bed Critical Access Hospital located in Waupaca, Wisconsin, serving residents throughout Waupaca County and the surrounding communities. The hospital combines personalized, community-based care with access to advanced specialists and services across the regional network. The hospital has been serving the community since 1954 and has earned national recognition as one of the nation's Top 100 Critical Access Hospitals.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Provides strategic planning, program development, labor management, and overall operational administration of the department.
Effectively directs team members in a manner consistent with ThedaCare policies and values. Ensures the recruitment and retention of competent team members to meet the needs of the business operations of the department.
Oversees and ensures accuracy of time and attendance and payroll practices.
In collaboration with the chief nursing executive, participates in the development, implementation, and monitoring of the nursing strategic plan and other business plans that impact professional nursing practice. Participates with the physician medical director in establishing vision and strategic direction. Supports and establishes goals that connect the vision back to the hospital and primary care, and effectively translates strategy into a clear vision.
Develops an environment that is supportive of shared decision making, shared governance, and an engaged workforce, and demonstrates personal and professional accountability in the development of high functioning teams.
Supports research and innovation to promote the advancement of the nursing profession. Uses evidence-based data to influence safety innovations and improve quality outcomes.
Is responsible for maintaining a communication system that interfaces with the medical staff and other leaders and departments to ensure quality patient care. Impacts change through credible influence and negotiation with other senior leaders.
Anticipates challenges or barriers, proactively seeks solutions, and acts promptly and decisively to transform ideas into improved outcomes and sustainable results. Leads and manages change at ThedaCare, measures the impact of changes to help quantify the effect of improvement, and develops new tools to assist in performance monitoring.
Leads and supports ongoing activities that promote safe practices, safe environments, and best outcomes. Develops quality improvement processes that include goals and defined performance measurements, monitors division performance against the appropriate national benchmark, and promotes patient-centered care.
Manages financial and budgetary performance, including explanation and justification of actual vs. budget variations of core cost centers. Directs the preparation of the annual operating and capital budget for the areas of responsibility.
Ensures compliance with regulatory agencies and influences policy, procedures, and protocols that support top decile clinical performance in partnership with physician medical director, and provides advice and counsel for policies affecting other departments.
Implements strategies to promote the professional development of team members and enhances the delivery of clinical care and the professional growth of team members. Coaches and mentors others.
Is responsible for the coordination of activities and ensures continual compliance with regulatory standards (i.e., The Joint Commission and CMS).
Demonstrates, anticipates, and proactively manages risks to prevent crises.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor of science degree in nursing
Eight years of progressive responsibility in a leadership position
Five years of leadership experience to include leading teams and/or projects
Current Wisconsin RN Licensure
American Heart Association Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support (BLS)
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Ability to move freely (standing, stooping, walking, bending, pushing, and pulling) and lift up to a maximum of twenty-five (25) pounds without assistance
Job classification is not exposed to blood borne pathogens (blood or bodily fluids) while performing job duties
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Ability to move throughout hospital departments and floors on a daily basis
Frequent exposure to sharp objects and instruments
Occasional exposure to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and risk of electrical shock
Occasional high noise level in work environment
Possible exposure to communicable diseases, hazardous materials, and pharmacological agents
Standing and/or walking for extended periods of time
Transporting, transferring, positioning patients and/or equipment from one location to another; little likelihood for injury if proper body mechanics and procedures are followed
Occasional contact with aggressive and combative patients
Position requires compliance with department specific competencies.
