Position Summary

The Quality Manager – Powertrain is responsible for leading the execution of the Polaris Quality Policy and Quality Operating System in support of the Polaris Production System at the Monterrey engine and transmission assembly plant. This role partners closely with Safety, Engineering, Operations, Materials, Supply Chain, and Product Development teams to ensure products meet and exceed customer expectations while supporting operational excellence and business growth.

The Quality Manager provides strategic and tactical leadership to the plant quality organization, driving a culture of quality, accountability, transparency, urgency, and continuous improvement through data-driven decision-making and strong cross-functional collaboration.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Operations, Science, or a related technical field.
  • 10+ years of experience in manufacturing, quality, engineering, or plant operations environments.
  • Direct experience with combustion engine, continuously variable transmission (CVT), and/or automatic transmission assembly processes.
  • Strong leadership experience managing quality organizations and cross-functional teams.
  • Advanced knowledge of quality systems, methodologies, and tools, including:
    • SPC
    • GD&T
    • DFMEA
    • PFMEA
    • DOE
    • CAPA
    • APQP
    • ISO standards
    • Dimensional engineering and metrology
  • Experience leading root cause analysis and corrective/preventive action activities.
  • Strong project management and data analysis capabilities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Minitab.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead change and drive continuous improvement initiatives.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Engineering, Operations, Business Administration, or related field.
  • ASQ certifications.
  • Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma certifications.
  • ISO and/or ASME certifications.
  • Experience implementing quality management systems in manufacturing environments.
  • Experience supporting new product introduction (NPI) and product development activities.
  • Strong background in error-proofing (Poka-Yoke), quality automation, and inspection technologies.
  • Experience standardizing quality systems and processes across multiple facilities.
  • Proven track record of talent development, coaching, and building high-performing teams.

Position Overview

The Quality Manager – Powertrain leads the quality strategy, quality systems, and quality organization for the Monterrey engine and transmission assembly facility. This role is responsible for ensuring product quality, customer satisfaction, regulatory compliance, and operational excellence while positioning quality as a competitive advantage for Polaris.

Key responsibilities include defining, deploying, maintaining, and auditing quality management systems and programs to ensure alignment with Polaris standards and industry best practices. The position collaborates with plant leadership, engineering, operations, supply chain, and sister manufacturing facilities to standardize quality processes, strengthen quality culture, and drive organizational performance.

The role oversees corrective and preventive action systems, ensuring timely resolution of quality concerns through structured problem-solving methodologies and effective root cause analysis. Responsibilities include embedding lessons learned into DFMEAs, PFMEAs, Control Plans, and manufacturing processes while ensuring the effectiveness of error-proofing and corrective action implementation.

The Quality Manager develops and monitors key quality metrics, including Clean Build and Rolling First Pass Yield performance, driving accountability across the organization and deploying resources when required to address quality challenges. The position also owns Quality Management Reviews (QMRs), quality scorecards, audit programs, and compliance activities to support customer, regulatory, and business requirements.

Additionally, the role serves as the primary quality leader for major plant quality concerns, field issues, and rework activities, coordinating cross-functional teams to resolve issues efficiently and sustainably. The Quality Manager is also responsible for developing the quality inspection roadmap, promoting automation and advanced inspection technologies, and supporting product safety considerations throughout the product design and manufacturing lifecycle.

As the leader of the Powertrain Quality organization, this role owns departmental budgeting, organizational development, talent management, and training initiatives. The Quality Manager fosters a strong Gemba culture, promotes accountability, coaches employees in structured problem-solving methodologies, and drives continuous improvement efforts that support Polaris' long-term business objectives.
