VicRoads is progressing too. In August 2022, we started on a new chapter when the Victorian State Government partnered with Aware Super, Australian Retirement Trust, and Macquarie Asset Management to operate registration and licensing services on its behalf.

We work collaboratively with the Victorian State Government to ensure we fulfill regulatory requirements, deliver State projects and safeguard customer data. The Victorian State Government retains sole responsibility for road access, infrastructure and safety.

  • Annual Salary Range: Commensurate with Experience  

  • Employment Type: 18 months Max Term - Full-Time 

  • Usual Work Location: QV 180 Lonsdale Street CBD/ Work from home

About the Opportunity 

Join VicRoads during a significant period of transformation as we reshape our property footprint to better meet the needs of Victorian communities. As the Property Communications & Engagement Advisor, you will play a key role in supporting the delivery of communication and stakeholder engagement activities across a range of property projects impacting customer service centres, contact centres and corporate locations.

Working closely with project teams, government stakeholders and local communities, you will help ensure changes are communicated clearly, stakeholders are engaged effectively, and potential risks and issues are proactively managed. This is an opportunity to contribute to meaningful projects with a direct impact on the way Victorians access our services.

Reporting to the Stakeholder Engagement Manager, you'll be a trusted advisor who can navigate complex environments, build strong relationships and deliver practical communication and engagement outcomes across multiple projects.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Develop and implement communications and stakeholder engagement plans to support property transformation projects.

  • Create clear, concise and engaging communications that translate complex project information into plain and effective messages.

  • Build and maintain effective relationships with councils, government agencies, community groups, businesses and other key stakeholders.

  • Identify impacted stakeholders and develop tailored engagement strategies to support project outcomes.

  • Coordinate stakeholder communications, briefings, meetings, FAQs and community updates.

  • Monitor stakeholder sentiment, community concerns and emerging issues, providing timely advice and recommendations.

  • Prepare key messages, briefing notes, executive updates and reactive communications materials.

  • Work closely with project teams to understand project scope, timelines, risks and stakeholder impacts.

  • Support the delivery of engagement activities across multiple concurrent projects.

  • Contribute to the successful delivery of a high-profile program of work within a complex and publicly visible environment.


About you 
You are an experienced communications and stakeholder engagement professional who enjoys working in complex environments and building strong relationships with diverse stakeholder groups. You can confidently manage competing priorities, navigate sensitive issues and provide practical advice that supports project outcomes.

You'll thrive in this role if you:

  • Have experience in communications, stakeholder engagement, change management or project communications.

  • Have supported complex projects with community, operational and government impacts.

  • Can build trusted relationships with a broad range of stakeholders, including government, councils, community groups and project teams.

  • Are an excellent writer who can translate complex information into clear, plain English communications.

  • Demonstrate sound judgement and a practical, solutions-focused approach.

  • Can confidently manage multiple priorities and projects in a fast-paced environment.

  • Are comfortable working independently, taking ownership of your work and driving outcomes.

  • Remain calm and adaptable when priorities shift or unexpected issues arise.

  • Have experience identifying stakeholder risks and developing effective engagement strategies.

  • Enjoy collaborating with others and contributing across a team environment where priorities may extend beyond your core responsibilities.

  • Are comfortable operating within a public-private partnership environment and navigating complex governance and approval processes.

Desirable

  • Experience supporting property, infrastructure, transport, government, utilities, banking or customer service network transformation projects.

  • Experience working with local councils, regional stakeholders, government agencies or community groups
