Project Manager – Electrical Manufacturing

Position Overview
We are hiring a Project Manager to oversee custom electrical equipment projects through the complete manufacturing cycle. This position coordinates engineering, materials, production, testing, logistics, and customer requirements to keep engineered-to-order projects on schedule and moving toward successful completion.
The Project Manager will act as a central point of coordination for both internal teams and customers, managing schedules, changes, risks, and project deliverables from the initial requirements through final shipment.
Responsibilities
- Take ownership of projects from initial requirements through engineering, procurement, manufacturing, testing, shipment, and closeout.
- Maintain regular communication with customers and serve as the primary project contact.
- Coordinate activities across Sales, Application Engineering, Design Engineering, Supply Chain, Production, Quality, and Logistics.
- Build and maintain project schedules, milestones, dependencies, and action items.
- Establish achievable delivery dates based on material availability, lead times, and production capacity.
- Lead project kickoff meetings and follow up on open actions and deliverables.
- Manage customer-requested changes, engineering modifications, and resulting schedule or scope impacts.
- Plan and coordinate Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs), documentation packages, and shipment preparation.
- Monitor projects for potential risks, identify issues early, and coordinate corrective actions.
- Maintain accurate project records, status reports, schedule information, and on-time delivery metrics.
- Manage multiple projects concurrently while maintaining priorities and project commitments.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, Project Management, or a related field preferred.
- 5+ years of project management experience in manufacturing, electrical equipment, or electromechanical environments.
- Experience managing engineered-to-order (ETO) or custom manufacturing projects.
- Strong understanding of project scheduling, order management, and long-lead material coordination.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, single-line diagrams, and technical specifications.
- Demonstrated ability to work across engineering, supply chain, production, and quality functions.
- Experience with ERP systems and project scheduling tools such as MS Project or Smartsheet.
- Excellent communication, organization, and customer-management skills.
- Ability to successfully manage multiple complex projects at the same time.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with electrical power distribution equipment, including switchgear, PDCs, RPPs, STS, or UPS systems.
- PMP certification or active pursuit of certification.
- Familiarity with UL, NEC, ANSI, or related electrical industry standards.
- Experience coordinating FATs and customer witness testing.
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma principles.
