The Office of the University Provost at Arizona State University (ASU) seeks a collaborative, data-informed, and strategic leader to serve as Program Director for Student Success Data Enablement for the National Scale Enterprise (NSE) grant. This role will lead university-wide efforts to identify, implement and scale innovative practices that advance undergraduate student success.

Under the supervision of the Associate Vice Provost for Data Strategy, Analysis and Planning (DSAP), this role brings data and institutional research expertise to a team focused on supporting colleges in designing and implementing coordinated strategic interventions for student success. This specific role requires coordinating among other grant leaders and with college liaisons and other student success experts within each college.  Additionally, we seek specific expertise in how different approaches to the use of data, statistics and research methods for quantitative and qualitative analysis may illuminate and transform work toward improved student outcomes.  Working collaboratively with consultative resources in technology activation, comprehensive excellence, student development and organizational transformation, this role will help leaders within the DSAP team design the data products, models and insights that can impact student enrollment, retention, completion and post-completion as well as institutional innovation and change.

This role is central to advancing ASU’s commitment to comprehensive excellence by ensuring that student success efforts are coordinated, evidence-based, and scalable across the institution. Working across ASU’s colleges and schools, and in partnership with EdPlus, the Office of Inclusive Excellence, University College, Enterprise Technology, and the Data Strategy, Analysis, and Planning teams, this role will drive improvements in data use, advising and coaching models, workflow design, and student support interventions. The Program Director will serve as a strategic connector, building strong relationships and developing shared practices that support timely persistence, undifferentiated student outcomes, and ASU’s mission of integration and impact.

Goals include establishing a consultative and collaborative approach to centralized and distributed student success innovations, institutionalizing transformation through sustained School & College-level engagement and co-ownership of data-informed student success projects. This role operates at both the strategic and applied levels, ensuring alignment between institutional priorities and implementation across academic and support units.

Essential Duties:

  • Support NSE grant initiatives including accelerating projects such as Project SUN UP,  student journey/signals project, student voice, course outcomes and other prioritized initiatives to strengthen college and unit cohesion and undifferentiated student outcomes.

  • Facilitate cross-institutional planning and collaboration to improve undergraduate student success practices and accelerate progress toward ASU Charter-aligned goals.

  • Act as a strategic liaison between the Office of the Provost, Office of Inclusive Excellence, EdPlus, colleges/schools and service support units including coordination with distributed project Fellows.

  • Lead and support working groups and other infrastructure to establish and sustain data-informed, focused efforts on student experience, advising and coaching models, and retention-related workflows.

  • Working with other teams in the Office of the Provost, establish and implement frameworks to assess the effectiveness of student success initiatives, integrating the framework into the design of new initiatives.

  • Build institutional capacity for data-informed decision-making while, when appropriate, directly gathering, analyzing, and synthesizing data to inform strategy and support key initiatives.

  • Promote comprehensive, student-centered practices and frameworks that reflect ASU’s commitment to measuring success by whom we include and how they succeed.

  • Translate findings and practices into clear recommendations and tools for practice and policy decisions, highlighting both successes and challenges and adaptations based on various structural contexts (size of school/college, length of time initiative has been in place, etc.)

  • Promotes and communicates the program goals and objectives.

  • Identify promising practices across ASU and nationally that can be piloted or adapted for ASU’s context

Desired Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree, preferably in education or social sciences research

  • Minimum five years of progressive experience in student success or related area

  • Demonstrated experience successfully leading retention initiatives and student success strategy, including program measurement and evaluation.

  • Skill in navigating complex data ecosystems and designing appropriate analyses.

  • Skill in analytical, organizational and policy interpretation.
