🕙 Role details: This is a full time role

💷 Salary: €53,000 - €68,000

🌍 Location: Ireland - Remote

The role

We’re looking for a mid-level Product Designer to help shape the next stage of Isla’s product experience as we continue to grow.

This is a hands-on individual contributor role for someone who enjoys solving complex product problems and collaborating deeply with cross-functional teams.

Working with our existing designer and partnering closely with Product, Engineering, and our clinical safety officer, you’ll play a key role in improving UX and UI across the platform. You'll be the voice of the user across Isla and will working directly with engineering to scope and build exciting new features, be helping simplify complex workflows, and ensure we build thoughtful, user-centred experiences in a highly regulated environment.

You’ll help to create the conditions for great design to happen: advocating for strong design-led thinking, improving design practices, and ensuring design remains an enabler rather than a bottleneck as we scale.

What you'll do

  • Design intuitive product experiences - you will design complex clinical and patient-facing experiences end-to-end, from flows and wireframes through to polished UI and implementation-ready designs
  • Be the voice of the user - ensure user needs are represented throughout the product development process, from early discovery and problem definition through to delivery and iteration
  • Improve UX quality across the platform - proactively identify friction, inconsistencies and opportunities to simplify workflows and improve the overall user experience
  • Make research stick - building on our existing research practice to make it more structured, consistent, and impactful. You'll help ensure insights are visible, accessible, and actively shaping product decisions, including establishing repeatable usability testing processes to ensure it's never deprioritised or missed - both critical requirements for medical device compliance and clinical safety.
  • Bring data into the design process - champion the use of quantitative and qualitative data together, helping the team make evidence-led decisions
  • Champion accessible and inclusive design -design experiences that work for users with a wide range of abilities and access needs, including visual, motor, cognitive and literacy impairments. Apply accessibility best practices and WCAG principles throughout the design process, contributing to inclusive patterns and standards within the design system.
  • Contribute to the evolution of our design system - keep it healthy, consistent, and evolving alongside the product, with an eye on AI-readiness and long-term scalability. You’ll contribute to improving consistency and collaboration between design and engineering as the system evolves.
  • Influence our approach to AI - explore and experiment with AI tools within the design workflow, helping identify practical ways they can improve speed, quality and collaboration

Requirements

  • Strong end-to-end product design skills - from discovery, journey mapping and wireframing through to polished UI and implementation-ready designs
  • Systems thinking - you consider the broader ecosystem your design decisions exist within, understanding how changes in one area can affect others across a complex, multi-user product.
  • Excellent product and UX instincts - able to simplify complex workflows, identify user problems, and design thoughtful, intuitive experiences grounded in evidence and user insight
  • A highly collaborative approach - comfortable working closely with Product and Engineering to shape solutions together, not just execute requirements
  • Experience contributing to design systems, with an appreciation for scalability, consistency, and strong collaboration between design and engineering
  • Confidence using both qualitative and quantitative data to inform decisions and evaluate outcomes
  • Curiosity about AI and emerging tooling - you actively explore new tools and think critically about how they can improve design workflows and product experiences
  • Strong instincts for improving ways of working - contributing positively to discovery, critique, prioritisation, and collaboration practices within fast-moving product teams
  • Comfortable operating in ambiguity and proactively identifying opportunities to improve UX quality
  • Expertise in accessibility and inclusive design - you design confidently for users with a wide range of needs, have a thorough command of WCAG guidelines and accessibility best practices, and treat inclusive design as a core part of creating safe, usable clinical products.
  • Experience in designing digital products in regulated or clinical environments is a bonus, but we're open to candidates from any industry - we'd love to hear from designers with varied backgrounds who can bring new ways of thinking to the problems we're solving.

Über Isla

Isla Health is a venture-backed healthtech startup, supporting our partners across the UK, EU and internationally beyond this. We have built a new category of healthcare technology which we refer to as the Digital Pathway Platform (DPP). Founded in 2019, we now support 25% of NHS Trusts and see over 2 million submissions on the platform each year.

As a company we are all laser focused on enabling a scalable model of care which empowers healthcare staff and improves patient outcomes. The DPP supports this by setting up digital pathways which are remote-first and asynchronous. As pathways harness sophisticated automation, clinical algorithms and intelligent cohorting, patients always take the optimised route through their pathway, thereby delivering a step change in clinical productivity.
