The position of Principal Engineer provides expert technical and Project Management skills to support the ongoing activities of a leading multi-disciplinary engineering consultancy. This role is responsible for key projects being delivered, technical inputs as required and contributing to targeting and securing new work.

The Principal Engineer will be responsible for contributing to managing a variety of divergent activities (within a discipline), providing technical expertise, contributing to the strategic direction and providing supervision and leadership to employees within the discipline.

The incumbent will role model the SJ Group values, ethics and code of conduct and ensure all business activities are carried out in accordance with these guiding principles. 

Key Accountabilities

Provide leadership and proactively collaborate with team members, contributors and stakeholders to maintain quality, timeliness and co-ordination of project deliverables; Provide expert advice and demonstrate advanced technical skills, ensuring that analysis and design tasks undertaken meet appropriate technical standards and the requirements of the client and SMEC; Demonstrate high level project management skills while accomplishing project deliverables to the required standard and in a timely manner; Significant active contribution to the commercial success of projects and the team and contributing to successful business development.

Formal Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree (Engineering) or Equivalent;
• Member of Engineers Australia;
• CPEng, RPEQ.
