• Employment Term: Maximum term to 30 June 2028, Full-Time (38 hours per week)

• Service Hours: The Service is operational 24 hours per day, 7 days per week. The hours of work will be on a rotating roster (Morning, Afternoon & Night Shifts).

• Location: Townsville

• Remuneration: $58.37 p/hr + Super + NFP Salary Packaging (save tax and increase your take home pay)

Your part in our UnitingCare team 

The NQ Safe Program is a 24/7 Domestic and Family Violence (DFV) telephone service supporting people across North Queensland.

The Practice Lead will coordinate high-quality support to clients by providing specialist domestic and family violence expertise, practice leadership, and guidance to staff across the NQ Safe program. In this pivotal role, you will identify and manage risk from both client and organisational perspectives, leading the development of effective safety planning and response strategies.

You will lead best practice across the program through a range of platforms, including reflective practice, case reviews, development of processes and practice guidelines.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide specialist domestic and family violence (DFV) practice leadership, advice, and risk assessment support across the NQ Safe program.

• Partner with the Service Leader to coach and mentor practitioners, enhancing their capability to engage clients and effectively assess, monitor, and minimise risk.

• Develop and implement DFV risk assessment tools, frameworks, and resources, and build practitioner capability through training and coaching.

• Develop and strengthen partnerships, referral pathways, and networks to support positive client outcomes.

• Oversee quality practice standards, client records, reporting, and compliance requirements.

• Contribute to service innovation, continuous improvement, and the implementation of contemporary DFV best practice.

What makes a difference for us?

• A tertiary qualification in Social Work, Human Services or a related discipline

• Minimum five years' experience in the human services sector, including specialist domestic and family violence practice.

• Demonstrated leadership, supervision, coaching, or mentoring experience.

• Strong knowledge of DFV risk assessment, safety planning, and evidence-based interventions.

• Experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and culturally diverse communities will be highly regarded.

• Excellent stakeholder engagement and relationship-building skills.

• Current Queensland Drivers Licence.

• Working with Children Check (Blue Card)

• A willingness to undergo a criminal history check
