The role
As People Advisor for Nigeria, you’ll be the day-to-day people point of contact for our Lagos hub of 250+ team members. You’ll own employee relations cases end to end and be a confident, credible voice that managers turn to for advice and coaching on their people challenges. You’ll work closely with the People Lead, Africa on the wider regional agenda, escalating the more strategic or complex issues to them.
This role reports to the People Lead, Africa and will be based from home and our Lagos hub on a hybrid basis.
How you'll contribute
Employee relations: Manage ER cases end to end for Nigeria – performance, conduct, grievances – resolving them with empathy, fairness, and legal precision.
Coaching & advising: Advise and coach senior Nigerian leaders on team dynamics, performance, and people decisions, building genuine credibility at that level.
Local compliance: Support Nigerian statutory compliance, including PAYE, HMO, Pension and NHF, and help managers stay on the right side of the Nigerian Labour Act.
Capability building: Run coaching and training sessions for people managers on LemFi’s management standards.
Change management: Support the rollout of global people initiatives locally, adapting the delivery and language to resonate with the Nigerian team.
Data: Feed local people data and insights on retention, engagement and hub health to the People Lead, Africa.
Partnering: Be the trusted, everyday advisor for people matters in Lagos, knowing when to escalate the bigger or more strategic calls.
Hiring support: Support the Talent Acquisition team with local hiring in Nigeria as needed, from sourcing input to interviewing.
Office Management: Manage the current office and potentially lead a workstream for a new Lagos office, defining the culture and employee experience to ensure the physical space fosters collaboration.
AI Integration: Champion the adoption of AI-driven people tools to automate routine administrative tasks, allowing you to spend more time on high-value coaching and strategy.
Who you are
Confidence in ER: You can run an employee relations case independently with good judgement on when to bring in support.
Comfortable with senior leaders: You can coach and advise managers and hold your own in the room, even early in your career.
Locally grounded: You understand the Nigerian employment landscape and professional culture well.
Pragmatic: You’re comfortable with the pace and ambiguity of a scaling business, and you get things done.
What you'll bring
3–5 years’ experience as an HR generalist with meaningful employee relations exposure in Nigeria.
Practical experience managing ER cases, ideally end to end.
Working knowledge of the Nigerian Labour Act and statutory requirements (PAYE, HMO, Pension, NHF).
Experience advising or coaching senior stakeholders.
Experience in a global or distributed business is a plus.
Proficiency with modern HRIS platforms; experience with Rippling is a plus.
Strong communication skills, comfortable working across seniority levels.
