Overview

The Global Business Solutions Center (GBSC) is a shared services organization within Mastercard whose mission is to add value to our partners and serve our customers by delivering operational excellence, enhanced customer experiences, and focused business results.

The Manager, Accounting will play a key leadership role within Mastercard's global controllership organization, with responsibility for overseeing treasury accounting, foreign exchange accounting, and related financial reporting activities. This position will partner closely with Treasury, Corporate Accounting, Technical Accounting, Financial Planning & Analysis, Financial Systems, and regional finance teams to ensure accurate and timely accounting for cash, investments, foreign currency exposures, and treasury-related transactions across Mastercard's global operations.

The ideal candidate will possess strong technical accounting expertise, experience managing complex treasury and foreign exchange accounting processes, and a passion for continuous improvement and operational excellence. This role aligns with the broader expectations for GBSC accounting leadership, including ownership of accounting close activities, financial reporting, stakeholder engagement, and team leadership.

Role

- Lead and oversee Mastercard's treasury accounting and foreign exchange accounting processes, ensuring compliance with US GAAP, IFRS, and company accounting policies.
- Manage the monthly, quarterly, and annual accounting close activities related to cash, investments, foreign currency transactions, intercompany funding, and treasury-related accounts.
- Review and approve complex journal entries and accounting transactions involving foreign currency remeasurement, translation adjustments, intercompany settlements, and treasury activities.
- Partner with Treasury and Technical Accounting teams to assess and account for foreign exchange exposures, investments, financing arrangements, and other treasury-related transactions.
- Oversee accounting and reporting for cash, cash equivalents, investments, restricted cash, bank fees, and other treasury-related balances.
- Review general ledger account reconciliations and investigate significant fluctuations, reconciling items, and foreign exchange-related variances.
- Analyze foreign currency impacts and provide meaningful insights regarding foreign exchange gains, losses, and other treasury-related financial results.
- Coordinate the preparation and review of treasury and foreign exchange-related disclosures, footnotes, roll-forward schedules, and supporting documentation for internal and external reporting requirements.
- Support internal and external audits by preparing audit support schedules, responding to audit inquiries, and providing technical accounting analysis.
- Collaborate with Treasury, Financial Systems, and technology teams to optimize treasury accounting processes, banking integrations, reporting capabilities, and automation opportunities.
- Drive continuous process improvement initiatives focused on standardization, automation, efficiency, and control enhancement across treasury accounting operations.
- Identify and remediate risks within treasury and foreign exchange accounting processes while maintaining a strong internal control environment.
- Monitor project milestones and deliverables related to treasury accounting initiatives and system enhancements, ensuring alignment with stakeholder expectations.
- Provide leadership, coaching, and development opportunities to accounting professionals while fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and operational excellence.

All About You

- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
- CPA required; MBA or other advanced degree preferred.
- 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including treasury accounting, foreign currency accounting, controllership, financial reporting, or corporate accounting responsibilities.
- Strong technical accounting knowledge of foreign currency accounting, treasury accounting, financial instruments, and related US GAAP and IFRS guidance.
- Experience accounting for foreign currency transactions, remeasurement activities, translation adjustments, and complex multinational accounting environments.
- Experience supporting accounting and reporting for cash management, investments, intercompany funding activities, and treasury-related transactions.
- Experience supporting external reporting requirements and maintaining compliance with internal control frameworks.
- Prior experience working with ERP systems, treasury management systems, and financial reporting tools (Oracle EBS / Oracle Fusion, REVAL, SAP, AtlasFX, Bloomberg, or similar platforms).
- Demonstrated ability to interpret accounting guidance and apply technical accounting principles to complex treasury and foreign exchange matters.
- Experience identifying and implementing process improvements and automation opportunities that enhance efficiency, scalability, and control.
- Proven ability to build trusted relationships and influence cross-functional stakeholders across Treasury, Finance, Accounting, and business organizations.
- Strong project management skills with a demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities and meet tight deadlines.
- Excellent verbal, written, and executive-level communication skills.
- Strong customer service mindset, business acumen, and attention to detail.
- Previous people leadership or team management experience preferred.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced global environment while maintaining a high degree of accuracy and accountability.

In line with Mastercard’s total compensation philosophy and assuming that the job will be performed in the US, the successful candidate will be offered a competitive base salary and may be eligible for an annual bonus or commissions depending on the role. The base salary offered may vary depending on multiple factors, including but not limited to location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Mastercard benefits for full time (and certain part time) employees generally include: insurance (including medical, prescription drug, dental, vision, disability, life insurance); flexible spending account and health savings account; paid leaves (including 16 weeks of new parent leave and up to 20 days of bereavement leave); 80 hours of Paid Sick and Safe Time, 25 days of vacation time and 5 personal days, pro-rated based on date of hire; 10 annual paid U.S. observed holidays; 401k with a best-in-class company match; deferred compensation for eligible roles; fitness reimbursement or on-site fitness facilities; eligibility for tuition reimbursement; and many more. O'Fallon, Missouri: $109,000 - $180,000 USD
