Position Description:
The M&E Mentor will be a crucial member of the district mentorship team and provide support to the MOH data systems. Under the technical guidance of the District HMIS officer, the M&E Mentor will provide mentorship to the MOH data clerks to facilitate timely and accurate reporting of all health-related data. The M&E Mentor will engage with the facility teams to ensure consistent EMR use and report generation.
Essential Duties
Mentorship of Facility MoH Data clerks on all data and reporting issues, with specific focus on:
- EMR cleaning and mentorship of system use
- Writing and verifying monthly reports. Working with facility teams to ensure timely submissions.
- Data quality: flagging documentation gaps and errors, identifying consistent data quality issues and root causes of the reoccurring issues.
- Creating mentorship reports with data specific actions and tracking site-level follow-up plans at all supported sites.
Improve health information systems and data use
- Provide mentorship to improve health information systems and data use
- Provide mentorship to generate missed appointment lists for client follow-up, lists of clients due for VL at the next clinic, clients who need adherence support, EID patient card audits to close EID testing gaps, and other key program areas as needed.
Data Reviews and CQI
- Engagement in data reviews and district feedback loop meetings
- Create monthly M&E review presentations.
- Co-facilitate ‘feedback loop’ data review meetings with district MoH leadership to systematically discuss gaps and propose solutions to implementation challenges.
Any other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Diploma in computer science, statistics, or any related field.
- Minimum one year practical experience, working in M&E field, planning and implementing data management system
- Current or previous experience serving as a data officer, assistant data officer, or assistant M&E officer
- Experience with the National EMRS including data cleaning and report generation
- Capacity to produce high-quality briefs and reports in English;
- Strong knowledge of HIV data management;
- Good level of proficiency in Windows Excel and quantitative analysis;
- Demonstrated ability to train and build capacity of others;
- Strong interpersonal skills;
- Experience in a non-governmental organization or in USG funded projects (desirable);
- Willingness to travel in all health facilities within the district (daily travel)
