Job Description

Are you a wizard with C/C++/C#/.NET?
Then we're looking for YOU!
The Play Software department at the LEGO Group focuses on enabling engaging and seamless digital experiences by developing innovative software tools and platforms. The Lead Software Engineer role supports this by delivering high-quality software solutions that empower developers to build interactive LEGO experiences efficiently.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain modular, testable, deployable, and easy-to-maintain software solutions for interactive LEGO products using a mix of C# .NET, AvaloniaUI, and Python to name a few.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to create tools that support developers in creating tech-enabled LEGO experiences, considering developer experience.

  • Ensure high software quality through code reviews, automated testing, and continuous integration, with a strong emphasis on unit testing, while being comfortable with context switching between projects.

  • Support the automation of pipelines and toolchain development to improve developer efficiency and quality of life, balancing between perfecting software and making rapid delivery.

  • Engage in architectural discussions to drive innovation and technical excellence, making loosely coupled IT solutions.

  • Mentor junior engineers, providing technical guidance and best practices, and fostering an environment eager to teach, learn, and experiment with an agile mindset.

  • Embrace the "You build it, you run it, you own it" philosophy, ensuring ownership and accountability for the software developed.

Requirements

  • Comfortable with C and C++ to a level that they can navigate codebases in these languages.

  • Experience in software development with C# .NET, with a proven ability to optimize software for performance and scalability.

  • Ability to engage in architectural discussions to drive innovation and technical excellence, seeing the red line across a tool portfolio and putting it into a system.

  • Experience with Git and Git actions, and a strong understanding of security and data privacy.

  • Demonstrated experience in automating development pipelines and improving developer toolchains, with knowledge of Docker.

  • Comfortable working with cloud endpoints and backend integration.

Nice to have

  • Understanding of DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines.

  • Proficiency in scripting languages like Python for automation tasks.

  • Familiarity with cloud services and backend integration.
