The GPC Global Technology Center team works on a wide range of projects assisting in areas such as e-commerce and data platforms, supply chain solutions, selling systems, and cyber security. This is home to a team of highly skilled IT engineers who are dedicated to driving innovation and delivering cutting-edge solutions for GPC.

Position Purpose:

We are seeking an innovative and hands-on Engineering Tech Lead to join our Special Projects team, focusing on the exploration and implementation of Generative AI and other innovative new technologies. The ideal candidate will have a unique blend of leadership, technical expertise, and a passion for new technology. Your role will be central to understanding the applicability of Generative AI for our company's unique use cases, and you will be instrumental in bringing Cloud solutions from development to production.

The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of leading teams that develop and support Products written in Python and Java in production settings. This candidate will be hands-on in the development activities with their team and will have good knowledge of the Python landscape. This person will be working closely with other Engineers, Product, and Data Scientists to develop and deploy Products built around LLMs in the Google Cloud Platform.

Responsibilities: 

Technical Leadership:

• Technical leading and mentoring a talented engineering team, fostering a culture of innovation and continuous learning.

• Write, review, and maintain code while ensuring alignment with best practices and project goals.

• Design and whiteboard solutions, collaborating with the team to develop and implement innovative approaches.

Generative AI Exploration:

• Investigate and apply Generative AI methodologies to meet the company's specific needs and challenges.

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to determine the best applications of Generative AI for the business.

Cloud Solutions Development:

• Spearheaded the implementation of Cloud solutions, specifically on the Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and Vertex AI.

• Guide the full lifecycle of development, from initial design to production deployment, ensuring quality and efficiency.

Continuous Learning and Improvement:

• Stay abreast of emerging technologies and industry trends to evolve the team's capabilities continually.

• Foster a culture of curiosity and learning, encouraging experimentation and growth.

Requirements: 

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.

• Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in technical leadership.

• Minimum of 6-8 years of experience in software development, with a strong focus on Python, Cloud solutions, and development-to-production lifecycle.

• Proficient in Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and Vertex AI.

• Hands-on experience in data analytics and building/deploying machine learning models.

• Passion for learning and applying new technologies, with the ability to inspire and drive innovation within the team.

• Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.

• Experience with Generative AI is a major plus.

• Experience with deploying and supporting Machine Learning/Large Language Models a major plus
