Retail Development Program Overview

The Retail Development Program (RDP) is a fast-paced, three-month program designed to prepare recent college graduates for a full-time role at Belk. We offer opportunities across several business functions, including Merchandising, Planning, Supply Chain, and more.

The program focuses on five key components to support your development: Education, Experience, Exposure, Innovation, and Results.

The Retail Development Program – Supply Chain will hire a class of program participants based at our Charlotte, NC headquarters. RDPs are required to relocate to and live in the Charlotte, NC metro area for their first 12 months of employment with Belk.

Position Summary – Supply Chain, Vendor Analyst

The Retail Development Program – Supply Chain, Vendor Analyst track is designed for recent graduates interested in building a career in retail supply chain and operations. In this role, you’ll develop an understanding of how vendor performance, compliance, transportation, and operational execution work together to ensure merchandise moves accurately and efficiently through the supply chain.

You’ll partner with vendors and cross-functional teams, analyze performance and compliance data, identify opportunities for improvement, and help resolve issues that impact the flow of merchandise. Through hands-on experience, you’ll build the analytical, operational, and business skills needed to grow within Supply Chain.

On the Job

• Partner with vendors and internal teams across Merchandising, Distribution, Transportation, and Supply Chain to support day-to-day vendor operations.

• Support vendor compliance with purchase order, packaging, labeling, routing, shipping, and delivery requirements.

• Review vendor and operational data to identify performance trends, recurring issues, and exceptions.

• Track vendor compliance and performance metrics and help identify opportunities for corrective action.

• Assist with researching and resolving vendor-related issues that may impact merchandise flow or operational performance.

• Maintain vendor compliance reports, scorecards, and performance documentation.

• Use Excel and reporting tools to organize, analyze, and communicate business insights.

• Support continuous improvement efforts focused on reducing errors, delays, additional costs, and supply chain disruption.

• Develop an understanding of purchase order management, routing, vendor standards, transportation, and the end-to-end retail supply chain.

• Communicate findings and recommendations to business partners to support vendor conversations and operational decisions.

Position Requirements

• Actively enrolled in an undergraduate or master’s degree program; bachelor’s degree required prior to program start.

• Must have graduated within between December 2026 – May 2027 and be available to begin full-time employment in June 2027.

• Preferred coursework in Vendor Compliance, Supply Chain Management, Transportation/Logistics, Operations Management, Finance, Business Analytics, or related coursework.

• Prior internship or relevant work experience in the field strongly preferred.

• Knowledge of Microsoft Office, specifically Excel.

• Passion for solving problems with strong analytical, prioritization, and organizational skills.

• Open to learning, able to adapt to changing circumstances, and able to reprioritize tasks as needed.

• Ability to communicate effectively with partners at all levels of the organization.

• Must be authorized to work in the United States and not require work authorization sponsorship by Belk for this position now or in the future.
