What do we need
Dotmatics is seeking a Full Stack Software Engineer to join the OMIQ team — a cutting-edge data science platform built for biomedical research, offering interactive data visualization and analysis tools that help scientists develop treatments for life-threatening diseases.
As part of our Flow Cytometry team, you'll be an integral member of a collaborative and experienced engineering group, working alongside technical leads to build and enhance the scalable services and data pipelines that power our rapidly growing, modern SaaS platform. We're looking for an Intermediate Full Stack Engineer with a strong backend focus who is eager to contribute, grow, and help shape an industry-defining product.
In this role you will get to:
Back End Development
- Design and implement scalable, reliable back end services and APIs in Go that support complex biomedical data workflows and real-time scientific analysis.
- Build and maintain data pipelines and processing services that handle large volumes of flow cytometry and biomedical research data.
- Collaborate with senior engineers and technical leads to develop robust back end architectures that meet performance and reliability requirements.
- Participate in code reviews and collaborate on design solutions to maintain high code quality across the team.
- Participate in the full development lifecycle, from initial design and scoping through to production deployment and iteration.
Cloud and Infrastructure
- Build and operate back end services on Google Cloud Platform, contributing to a scalable and resilient cloud-native architecture.
- Assist in maintaining and improving cloud infrastructure in collaboration with senior team members.
- Support CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions, contributing to reliable and efficient deployment workflows.
- Apply sound engineering practices around observability, logging, and alerting to support the operational health of back end services.
Full-Stack Contributions and Collaboration
- Contribute to front end development in TypeScript and Angular as needed, with an understanding of how back end services power the user experience.
- Work closely with front end engineers to define APIs and integration contracts that support clean and performant user interfaces.
- Track work tasks in Jira and manage GitHub pull requests, contributing to a well-organized and transparent engineering process.
- Actively engage in team meetings and discussions, participating in Agile ceremonies including Sprint planning, Backlog grooming, and routine stand-ups.
- Work closely with cross-functional teammates across engineering, product, and design to deliver high-quality product outcomes.
We are looking for people with a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or 2+ years of equivalent back-end or full-stack development experience. You are an engineer who prides themselves on getting things done, with a desire to grow your skills and a genuine passion for building products that make a difference in scientific research.
The key skills we are looking for are:
- Back end service and API development in Go, with experience building scalable, production-grade systems.
- Google Cloud Platform fundamentals and cloud-based application development.
- GitHub and CI/CD workflows including pull request management and automated pipelines.
- Strong fundamentals in data structures, algorithms, and distributed systems concepts.
- Ability to contribute across the full stack, with some familiarity with TypeScript and Angular.
You may also have
- Comfort using AI coding assistants (e.g. Claude Code) as part of a modern development workflow.
- Experience with data pipelines, large dataset processing, or scientific computing environments.
- Familiarity with flow cytometry, biomedical research, or other scientific data domains.
- Experience with data visualization libraries such as D3.
- Prior experience in a high-growth SaaS or enterprise software company.
This role is hybrid preferred, with 2 working days in our Auckland office.
