About the Company
Our partner is a seed-funded legal technology company building time-tracking software for law firms. Their product automatically captures billable activity, drafts the entries, and pushes them into the firm's billing system — saving attorneys roughly an hour a week of administrative work and surfacing meaningfully more billable time than manual tracking does. They have been in market for over two years, serve around 150 active firms, and have never lost a customer. Revenue has grown sixfold since their raise. The team is small, in person five days a week in downtown Manhattan, and plans to roughly double by the end of the year.
The Opportunity
This is the founding sales development seat. You will work shoulder-to-shoulder with one of the company's co-founders and the founding account executive to build the outbound motion from the ground up — the sequences, the call scripts, the qualification bar, and the process that whoever comes after you will inherit. Your single measure of success is held meetings with qualified firms.
The funnel you are booking into is unusually warm: the large majority of pipeline arrives inbound, roughly half of new business comes through customer referrals, and better than half of held meetings convert to closed-won. There is a defined 6–9 month path to an Account Executive seat, and the person currently in the role is tracking well above their commission target. If you want to learn enterprise-grade selling from the founders directly and step into closing within the year, this is that seat.
Responsibilities
- Book qualified meetings with law firms through outbound cold calling, email, and follow-up on inbound interest
- Write crisp, specific outreach that earns a reply from busy attorneys and firm administrators
- Qualify inbound and referral interest against a clear fit bar before passing it to the account executive
- Run a disciplined, well-documented process in the CRM so pipeline is never guessed at
- Represent the product credibly on features and security questions in early conversations
- Support conferences and industry events, including follow-up that converts to meetings
- Feed what you hear from the market back to the founding team so messaging and product keep sharpening
Requirements
- At least four months of sales development experience in a B2B environment
- Comfortable making cold calls to people you have never spoken to before
- Strong written communication — able to write short, engaging, specific emails
- Highly organized, with the discipline to follow a structured process consistently
- Able to hold your own in a conversation with attorneys about product capabilities and security
- Clear ambition to earn a promotion into an Account Executive role
- Able to work onsite in New York City Monday through Friday
