How Will You Make an Impact?:

As a Formulation Technician II, you will play a critical role in manufacturing high-quality products by accurately preparing formulations in accordance with approved procedures, batch records, and cGMP requirements. Your attention to quality, safety, and schedule execution will help ensure products are delivered right the first time and on time to support our customers and Thermo Fisher Scientific's Mission.

  • Shift: 1st shift 7 am – 3:30 pm flexible based on the workload
  • Rate: $17 - $ 23

A Day in the Life:

  • Execute formulation activities according to approved Product Master Records (PMRs), SOPs, Work Instructions, and cGMP requirements.
  • Accurately weigh, stage, charge, mix, and transfer raw materials and formulated bulk while following established processing parameters.
  • Perform and document required in-process activities, calculations, verifications, and equipment checks while maintaining accurate and complete GDP documentation.
  • Operate formulation equipment and support equipment cleaning, sanitization, line clearance, and changeover activities.
  • Review the daily production schedule and coordinate formulation activities to ensure bulk is available to downstream Fill operations when required.
  • Identify and promptly escalate process deviations, equipment issues, material discrepancies, safety concerns, or conditions that could impact product quality or schedule.
  • Collaborate with Quality, Production, Warehouse, Maintenance, and other support functions to resolve manufacturing issues and maintain production flow.
  • Maintain formulation, weighing, and material staging areas in a clean, organized, safe, and audit-ready condition.
  • Participate in Tier meetings, safety activities, HazIDs, PPI initiatives, investigations, and continuous improvement activities.
  • Support the training and development of other Formulation colleagues as knowledge and experience are gained.

REQUIREMENTS

Education:  High School Diploma, Secondary Education, Advanced Certificate, or equivalent.

Experience:

  • Required: Minimum of 1 year of work experience in a manufacturing, operations, production, lab setting or related field
  • Preferred: Experience in a cGMP environment

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

  • Working knowledge of cGMP, Good Documentation Practices (GDP), SOPs, Work Instructions, and controlled manufacturing documentation.
  • Ability to follow Product Master Records and detailed written instructions accurately while maintaining strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations associated with weighing, formulation, yields, quantities, and manufacturing processes.
  • Ability to operate formulation and material-handling equipment safely and correctly after completion of required training.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to prioritize activities according to production requirements.
  • Ability to recognize process abnormalities or deviations and escalate concerns appropriately before proceeding.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills and the ability to collaborate with colleagues across Production, Quality, Warehouse, Maintenance, and other functions.
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety, quality, compliance, and right-first-time execution.
  • Ability to work independently within established procedures while also contributing effectively in a team environment.
  • Basic computer skills; experience with manufacturing systems such as SAP or electronic documentation systems is preferred.

Physical Requirements / Work Environment:

Ability to stand and/or sit for extended periods and perform repetitive production and assembly activities. Must be able to lift and move materials up to 50 pounds and wear required personal protective equipment. Work is performed in a controlled manufacturing environment requiring adherence to established gowning, hygiene, cleanliness, safety, and contamination-control practices.

Compensation and Benefits

The hourly pay range estimated for this position based in Virginia is $17.85–$26.77.
