The City of Fort Worth’s Transportation and Public Works Department is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Field Operations Supervisor to join our Street Operations Division, specifically within the South Asphalt section. The candidate will oversee 2,604 lane miles of asphalt street maintenance which will include heavy equipment as well as field staff personnel. The position is located at 4100 Columbus Trail at our Southside Service Center.
This leadership role requires extensive knowledge and hands-on experience in asphalt street maintenance as well as building strong efficient teams. The successful candidate will supervise and participate in a wide range of street repair and preservation activities, including but not limited to:
- Mechanical pothole repair
- Subgrade (base) and asphalt pavement repairs
- Response to street cave-ins
- Asphalt level-ups (hand and machine applications)
- Proper material selection and application for various repair methods
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School Diploma/GED supplemented by specialized training related to assigned operations and services
- Four (4) years of related experience
- Valid Texas Class C Driver's license
Preferred Qualifications:
- Excellent computer skills, i.e., VueWorks, Mobile VUE, Microsoft Office, PeopleSoft, other software platforms
- Work zone safety knowledge, traffic control and/or training and knowledge of snow/ice/hazardous weather conditions pertaining to Streets Operations
- Supervisory experience including experience writing employee performance appraisals
- Familiarity with Fort Worth's Street network and common maintenance challenges
- Leading and building new teams
The Field Operations Supervisor job responsibilities include:
- Prioritize scheduled and emergency work
- Provide direct in-field supervision of crews working on all phases of maintenance operations
- Schedule and monitor maintenance projects and improve upon the efficiency and effectiveness of all areas under his/her direction and control
- Conduct regular safety inspections and maintain a safe worksite for employees and citizens
- Ensure compliance of policies and procedures
- Read engineering plans and blueprints
- Communicate with internal and external customers
