Job Role: Estimator
Compensation range: $1,800 AUD - $2,500 AUD / Monthly
Engagement type: Independent Contractor Agreement
Work Schedule: This role is expected to align with the AU business hours (approx. 9 AM - 5 PM, Monday to Friday) for collaboration, but as a contractor, you’ll have flexibility in how you manage your time.

Role Overview: The Estimator will be responsible for analysing project requirements, preparing accurate cost estimates, and contributing to the successful delivery of bids and proposals. This role requires strong attention to detail, technical expertise, and the ability to collaborate effectively with internal teams, suppliers, and clients to ensure competitive and precise pricing of projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review Electrical and Renewable project plans, specifications and requirements to determine the scope of work and materials needed
- Prepare detailed and accurate Electrical and Renewable cost estimates for labour, materials and equipment required for project completion
- Collaborate with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain pricing, ensure material availability and evaluate vendor proposals
- Develop comprehensive Electrical and Renewable budgets and provide recommendations to meet client requirements and company objectives
- Compile and submit competitive bids, ensuring all documentation is accurate and aligns with client specifications
- Engage with clients to clarify project requirements, address concerns and provide recommendations for cost-effective solutions
- Provide insights on design, materials and project strategies to ensure optimal cost and quality outcomes
- Identify potential risks and incorporate mitigation strategies in estimates to safeguard project profitability
- Maintain accurate records of estimated versus actual costs and provide reports to assess performance and improve future estimates
- Work closely with project managers, engineers and other departments to ensure alignment on project goals and deliverables
- Ensure all estimates and proposals adhere to relevant industry standards, safety regulations and company policies
- Stay updated on industry trends, market pricing and technological advancements to refine estimating processes
- Maintain thorough and organised records of estimates, quotes and project details for future reference
- Proactively address challenges in the estimating process, providing creative and practical solutions to ensure project success
Requirements
- At least 3 years of relevant experience in Electrical and Renewable estimating, cost planning or a similar role
- Experience preparing detailed Electrical and Renewable cost estimates, budgets, quotations, bids or proposals
- Hands-on experience using Simpro in an estimating or quotation environment
- Hands-on experience using Groundplan to complete electrical take-offs
- Ability to review and interpret Electrical and Renewable project plans, specifications and technical documentation
- Strong understanding of NSW Australia Electrical and Renewable labour, material and equipment costing
- Strong understanding of NSW Australia Electrical and Renewable rules
- Experience coordinating with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain and assess pricing
- Strong numerical, analytical and problem-solving skills
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Ability to identify project risks and potential pricing concerns
- Proficiency with spreadsheets and familiarity with estimating or project-management systems
- Strong written and verbal English communication skills
- Strong organisational, record-keeping and documentation skills
- Ability to manage multiple estimates and meet agreed submission deadlines
- Confidence communicating with clients, suppliers and internal project teams
- Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively in a remote environment
