Über diese Emerging Technology Intern (Waterford office, Ireland) Stelle bei Red Hat
Red Hat’s Office of the CTO is looking for a highly motivated Software Engineering Intern to join us in Waterford to help accelerate the adoption and development of emerging technologies across our portfolio, with a growing focus on AI and next-generation computing. In this role, you will be a developing and valued member of our engineering team, helping build proof-of-concept systems, collaborating with upstream open-source communities, and partnering with downstream product teams to enable new computational hardware and AI platforms.
You’ll explore modern AI frameworks and infrastructure such as PyTorch, vLLM, model serving stacks, GPU-accelerated platforms, and cloud-native MLOps pipelines. You will work in an environment where diverse perspectives are welcomed, strong ideas rise quickly, and people are empowered to make real impact. Freedom and courage are core to our culture, so you should be excited to take thoughtful risks, explore new technology frontiers, and learn fast along the way.
Red Hat’s Intern Program is a collaborative effort between the Emerging Talent team and our intern managers. The program is designed to offer a meaningful and well-rounded experience — combining professional development, networking opportunities, social engagement, and impactful work. This is a paid, full-time internship based in Waterford with flexible working hours. The expected start date is January 2027.
What you will do:
Collaborate with a dynamic team exploring emerging technologies in AI, developer productivity, workflow automation, and managed services.
Build and iterate on Proof-of-Concept (POC) implementations for AI and cloud-native platforms, including model training, inference pipelines, and scalable serving systems.
Work with technologies such as PyTorch, vLLM, containerised model runtimes, Kubernetes/OpenShift, CI/CD pipelines, and Infrastructure as Code.
Write code in multiple languages to close functional gaps in infrastructure enablement and AI system integration.
Ensure POC systems can be deployed in repeatable and automated ways.
Present your work and findings to technical audiences across Red Hat.
What you will bring:
You must be enrolled in an accredited university program in the Republic of Ireland during the full duration of the internship and must be able to join us full time from January till August 2027

Curiosity and aptitude for learning new technologies quickly and switching context between projects.
Comfort collaborating with engineers across product teams and open-source communities.
Ability to thrive in a fast-moving environment.
Excellent interpersonal skills and a collaborative mindset.
Due to the limited number of internship opportunities and the high volume of applications, we may not be able to speak with every candidate. To maximise your chances of moving forward in the process, please ensure your CV clearly outlines your education, relevant projects (link to your git.hub account), and extracurricular activities.
Please apply for a maximum of three internship roles that best match your interests and skills.
