What You'll Be Doing

Job Scope:

The EHS Specialist will support industrial and manufacturing clients by identifying and reducing risks that impact safety, productivity, reliability, quality, workforce effectiveness, and regulatory compliance. This role will provide hands-on EHS consulting through assessments, industrial hygiene evaluations, field observations, audits, training, risk assessments, and performance improvement initiatives. The EHS Specialist will develop practical solutions that help clients operate more safely, efficiently, and sustainably while serving as a trusted advisor to client leadership and delivering high-quality, billable consulting services.

Primary responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Conduct EHS assessments, audits, field observations, and compliance evaluations at industrial and manufacturing facilities.
  • Perform industrial hygiene evaluations and risk assessments to identify potential workplace hazards and opportunities for improvement.
  • Evaluate plant operations, management systems, work processes, and field execution practices to identify risks, inefficiencies, and opportunities to improve performance.
  • Conduct incident investigations and develop recommendations to prevent recurrence and improve overall safety performance.
  • Develop and implement practical, value-driven solutions that improve safety, productivity, reliability, quality, compliance, and workforce effectiveness.
  • Partner directly with plant leadership, operations, maintenance, engineering, and frontline personnel to implement sustainable performance improvements.
  • Develop and deliver EHS and workforce training tailored to client needs and operational requirements.
  • Prepare high-quality technical reports, assessments, recommendations, presentations, and other client deliverables.
  • Identify client needs and recommend appropriate solutions based on operational and business objectives.
  • Manage project deliverables, schedules, priorities, and client expectations to ensure successful project execution.
  • Provide professional, responsive, and high-quality consulting services that build trust and strengthen client relationships.
  • Support the identification of opportunities to expand services and provide additional value to existing clients.
  • Collaborate with Tormod technical teams to support integrated solutions across EHS and other consulting service areas.
  • Contribute to the continued growth and development of Tormod's EHS consulting practice.

Ideal Background

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Science, Engineering, Occupational Health, or a related field.

Registration:

  • CSP, CIH, ASP, CHST, or similar professional certification preferred.

Experience:

  • At least 5 years of progressive Environmental Health & Safety (EHS), industrial hygiene, environmental compliance, operational excellence, or related consulting experience supporting industrial or manufacturing operations.
  • Demonstrated experience developing, recommending, implementing, and optimizing operational, EHS, and workforce performance improvements.
  • Experience evaluating plant operations, management systems, work processes, organizational effectiveness, and field execution practices.
  • Experience conducting EHS assessments, audits, industrial hygiene evaluations, risk assessments, and incident investigations.
  • Experience developing and delivering workforce and EHS training within industrial environments.
  • Experience working directly with plant leadership, operations, maintenance, engineering, and frontline personnel.
  • Experience delivering client-facing consulting services and managing project deliverables.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Strong knowledge of EHS principles, industrial safety practices, risk management, and regulatory compliance.
  • Strong problem-solving, analytical, and critical-thinking skills.
  • Ability to identify client needs and develop practical, value-driven solutions.
  • Strong relationship-building, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to effectively communicate technical information to both leadership and frontline personnel.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects, priorities, and client engagements.
  • Ability to work independently while effectively collaborating with clients and internal technical teams.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and technical report development.
  • Ability to work effectively in industrial and manufacturing environments.
  • Strong commitment to delivering high-quality consulting services and measurable value to clients.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift and carry in excess of 25 lbs.
  • Ability to travel to client facilities and project sites as required.
  • Ability to work in industrial and manufacturing environments.
  • Ability to participate in site walks, assessments, audits, and field observations.
  • Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
