Role Overview  

The Marketplace Growth Engineering team is dedicated to the success of third-party sellers on our platform. Our mission is to build the end-to-end, scalable, and intelligent systems that empower sellers to thrive. We create the tools, services, and data platforms that form the backbone of the seller experience, from intuitive user interfaces to high-performance backend processing.

The ideal candidate is an experienced engineering leader with a strong background in scalable backend and data systems, exceptional strategic thinking, and a proven track record of building, guiding, and scaling high-performing engineering teams.

What You Will Do  

• Lead and Grow the Team: Hire, mentor, and develop a team of high-performing engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence, collaboration, and continuous learning.

• Own Technical Delivery: Oversee the design, development, and automation of large-scale, high-performance streaming data processing systems and backend services to drive business growth.

• Drive Strategy and Vision: Establish and execute short- and long-term architectural and product roadmaps, aligning team goals with evolving business needs.

• Guide Architecture: Act as a technical sounding board, guiding the team in building scalable data infrastructure, optimal data models, and resilient pipelines using best-in-class engineering practices.

• Ensure Operational Excellence: Take full ownership of the team’s portfolio, ensuring high-quality software development, operational health, system performance, and high availability.

• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with Product, Design, and other Engineering leaders to functionally decompose complex business problems into straightforward, maintainable project phases and actionable deliverables.

• Elevate Organizational Standards: Drive continuous improvements in platform efficiency and scale, while collaborating across teams to establish shared data engineering tools and standards across Growth Engineering and Coupang as a whole.
