Responsibilities:
• Install, configure, administer and maintain Microsoft SQL Server environments
• Ensure database availability, reliability and optimal performance
• Perform regular database maintenance activities, including index maintenance, statistics updates and consistency checks
• Plan and execute SQL Server upgrades, patches and configuration changes
• Manage database capacity planning and forecast future growth requirements
• Monitor database health and proactively identify potential issues
SQL Development
• Design, develop and maintain high-quality T-SQL solutions
• Write, optimize and troubleshoot complex SQL queries, stored procedures, views, functions and triggers
• Analyze execution plans and implement performance improvements
• Support application development teams by designing efficient database structures and data access solutions
• Review and optimize existing SQL code to improve performance, scalability and maintainability
Performance Tuning & Troubleshooting
• Conduct in-depth performance analysis and implement tuning strategies
• Investigate and resolve database bottlenecks, blocking, deadlocks and performance issues
• Utilize SQL Server monitoring tools, Query Store and Extended Events to identify root causes of issues
• Collaborate with development teams to ensure SQL code adheres to best practices
Data Security & Resilience
• Implement and maintain database security standards and access controls
• Ensure compliance with company security and data governance policies
• Design, maintain and regularly test backup and recovery procedures
• Support disaster recovery planning and business continuity requirements
• Protect sensitive data through appropriate security measures and encryption technologies
Data Integration & Reporting
• Ensure data quality, consistency and integrity across systems
• Support reporting and data extraction requirements
Business Support & Collaboration
• Collaborate with business users to understand data-related requirements
• Investigate and resolve data discrepancies and application incidents
• Support users and internal teams with database-related requests and issues
• Participate in testing, deployment and post-release support activities
• Work closely with developers, analysts and infrastructure teams to ensure seamless integration of database systems
Documentation
• Maintain accurate documentation of database architectures, schemas and operational procedures
• Create and maintain data dictionaries and technical documentation
• Contribute to the development and adoption of database standards and best practices
Qualifications:
• Proven work experience as a Database Administrator and/or SQL Developer
• Minimum 3 years of experience with Microsoft SQL Server
• Strong knowledge of T-SQL, database design and data modeling principles
• Experience developing and maintaining stored procedures, functions, views and triggers
• Experience analyzing and optimizing complex SQL queries
• Experience with database performance tuning and execution plan analysis
• Strong understanding of indexing strategies, statistics and query optimization techniques
• Experience with SQL Server backup, restore and disaster recovery processes
• Experience with database monitoring and troubleshooting
• Strong understanding of database security, data integrity and access control principles
• Experience with SSIS (SQL Server Integration Services) or other ETL technologies
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Ability to analyze business requirements and translate them into database solutions
• Experience working directly with business users and stakeholders
• Good English communication skills
