Job Summary
The Data Center Logistics III role supports the efficient movement, storage, and management of materials, equipment, and customer shipments within the data center environment. This role is responsible for coordinating shipping and receiving activities, maintaining inventory accuracy, supporting operational teams and customers, and ensuring logistics processes are executed safely, accurately, and on time.
Working independently on day-to-day logistics activities, the role helps maintain operational readiness, supports customer requirements, and contributes to the overall efficiency of data center operations.
Responsibilities
Documentation & System Updates
- Maintain accurate records and supporting documentation for inbound and outbound shipments, inventory transactions, and customer deliveries.
- Update inventory management systems and databases to ensure shipment and stock information remains current and accurate.
- Verify goods received against purchase orders and delivery documentation, escalating discrepancies when identified.
- Support reporting activities related to inventory levels, shipment status, and logistics operations.
- Ensure inventory and logistics records are maintained in accordance with operational standards and compliance requirements.
Shipping & Receiving
- Receive goods delivered to the Data Center directly or through established site security processes.
- Inspect received materials and verify shipment accuracy prior to acceptance.
- Coordinate timely dispatch and delivery of materials, equipment, and customer shipments to the appropriate destination.
- Obtain delivery confirmations and maintain accurate records of completed deliveries.
- Utilize shipment tracking tools, dashboards, and operational systems to monitor inbound and outbound shipments.
- Support warehouse organization and ensure materials are stored safely and efficiently.
Inventory Management
- Maintain inventory accuracy through proper receiving, storage, allocation, and tracking processes.
- Allocate inventory and materials to internal customers and operational teams as required.
- Coordinate inventory transfers between sites and support material movement activities.
- Maintain appropriate stock levels for operational and project requirements.
- Assist with inventory counts, stock audits, and reconciliation activities.
- Communicate inventory shortages, backorder timelines, and replenishment needs to relevant stakeholders.
- Support spare parts and operational inventory management activities.
Problem Solving
- Work with suppliers, Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs), logistics providers, and internal stakeholders to resolve shipment and inventory issues.
- Communicate delivery schedules, inventory availability, and shipment status to customers and operational teams.
- Investigate inventory discrepancies and logistics-related issues, escalating complex matters when required.
- Contribute recommendations to improve logistics efficiency, inventory accuracy, and customer service.
Hazardous Materials
- Follow established procedures for the safe handling, storage, and movement of hazardous materials.
- Ensure hazardous materials are properly labelled, documented, and stored in accordance with regional regulatory requirements.
- Support hazardous materials inventory management and compliance activities.
- Escalate safety concerns and ensure compliance with all applicable site policies and procedures.
Equipment Management
- Organize and maintain inventory records for stored, staged, and abandoned equipment.
- Monitor aging shipments and coordinate resolution activities in accordance with established business processes.
- Support tracking of software licenses, technology assets, and related inventory where applicable.
- Maintain accurate equipment inventory records and support asset management processes.
Data Center Support
- Support the delivery and removal of customer equipment within data center environments.
- Assist with equipment preparation, packaging, and shipment activities in support of customer and operational requirements.
- Support Smart Hands and operational teams with logistics-related requests.
- Ensure materials and equipment are handled safely and in accordance with site procedures.
Collaboration
- Work closely with Customer Operations, Critical Facilities, Security, and other operational teams to support business objectives.
- Coordinate effectively with customers, vendors, suppliers, and internal stakeholders.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives that enhance inventory accuracy, operational efficiency, and customer experience.
- Share knowledge and assist team members during periods of increased operational demand.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
- At least a Higher Nitec / Diploma certification, or equivalent practical experience.
- Typically requires 1–2 years of relevant experience in logistics, warehousing, inventory management, supply chain operations, or a related environment.
- Experience supporting operations in a data center, technology, manufacturing, industrial, or mission-critical environment is an advantage.
Preferred Skills & Experience
- Familiarity with inventory management systems, warehouse management systems (WMS), or shipment tracking tools.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to inventory accuracy.
- Ability to organize, prioritize, and manage multiple logistics activities simultaneously.
- Effective communication and customer service skills.
- Understanding of shipping, receiving, inventory control, and material handling processes.
- Regional hazardous materials certification preferred.
