We are seeking an experienced and technically strong Commissioning Engineer to support commissioning, Integrated Systems Testing (IST), and operational readiness activities for a large-scale data center project in Dubai, UAE. This site-based role requires strong knowledge of mission-critical infrastructure, commissioning execution, system integration, testing documentation, and performance validation across electrical, mechanical, ICT, and compute-related systems.

The ideal candidate will have experience supporting commissioning and IST execution for data center, mission-critical, high-performance computing, industrial, or technically complex facilities. The role requires hands-on experience with commissioning coordination, test execution, issue tracking, GPU/accelerator burn-in, thermal-soak testing, and compute-fabric validation.

You will play a key role in supporting the safe, reliable, and successful transition of the facility from construction completion through commissioning, integrated testing, operational readiness, and handover.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Support commissioning and IST execution activities across mission-critical data center systems, ensuring testing is completed safely, accurately, and in accordance with approved procedures.
• Coordinate with commissioning managers, contractors, vendors, OEMs, MEP teams, ICT teams, operations teams, and client representatives during testing and validation activities.
• Review and support commissioning plans, method statements, test scripts, IST procedures, checklists, risk assessments, and commissioning schedules.
• Support Integrated Systems Testing for electrical, mechanical, controls, ICT, and computer-related systems.
• Assist in validating system readiness before commissioning, including documentation review, installation verification, pre-functional checks, and issue closeout.
• Support GPU and accelerator burn-in testing, including coordination of test environments, equipment readiness, monitoring requirements, and performance validation.
• Support thermal-soak testing activities to validate cooling performance, stability, load response, and environmental control under sustained operating conditions.
• Support compute-fabric validation activities, including coordination with ICT, network, hardware, and operations teams to verify connectivity, redundancy, performance, and system integration.
• Monitor and document test results, deficiencies, failures, observations, and corrective actions during commissioning and IST activities.
• Coordinate with project teams to track and close commissioning issues, punch list items, defects, and non-conformances.
• Verify that commissioning activities are aligned with approved drawings, specifications, sequence of operations, operational requirements, and client standards.
• Support testing of critical infrastructure, including MV/LV electrical distribution, UPS systems, generators, ATS, switchgear, grounding, cooling systems, CRAH/CRAC units, chilled water systems, BMS, EPMS, fire alarm, ICT, and network infrastructure.
• Participate in commissioning meetings, readiness reviews, test coordination sessions, daily briefings, and lessons learned reviews.
• Support commissioning documentation, including test records, issue logs, commissioning reports, turnover documentation, and final acceptance records.
• Identify commissioning risks, interface issues, access constraints, sequencing gaps, and operational readiness concerns, escalating them to project leadership when required.
• Support safe testing practices, including LOTO, Permit-to-Work, energized systems coordination, test boundary control, and emergency response requirements.
• Coordinate with operations teams to ensure testing outcomes support handover, system reliability, maintainability, and operational readiness.
• Perform other related duties as required and assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required qualifications:

• 10+ years of experience in commissioning, IST execution, data center operations, MEP systems testing, ICT validation, facility engineering, or mission-critical infrastructure delivery.
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, Telecommunications Engineering, or a related technical field.
• Experience supporting commissioning activities on data center, mission-critical, high-performance computing, industrial, or technically complex projects.
• Hands-on experience supporting Integrated Systems Testing (IST) execution.
• Experience supporting or coordinating GPU/accelerator burn-in and thermal-soak testing activities.
• Experience supporting compute-fabric validation, ICT infrastructure validation, network readiness, or systems integration testing.
• Strong understanding of mission-critical electrical and mechanical systems, including power distribution, UPS, generators, switchgear, ATS, grounding, cooling systems, CRAH/CRAC units, chilled water systems, BMS, EPMS, and related infrastructure.
• Ability to review and interpret commissioning plans, test scripts, drawings, specifications, sequence of operations, method statements, inspection records, and technical documentation.
• Experience tracking test results, deficiencies, commissioning issues, punch lists, corrective actions, and closeout documentation.
• Strong understanding of commissioning safety requirements, including LOTO, Permit-to-Work, energized testing, PPE, isolation procedures, and test boundary control.
• Ability to coordinate with contractors, vendors, OEMs, consultants, client representatives, commissioning teams, ICT teams, and operations teams.
• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with the ability to identify system issues and support practical resolution.
• Excellent communication, reporting, and coordination skills.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure commissioning environment.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

Preferred qualifications:

• Experience working on hyperscale data centers, AI data centers, GPU clusters, high-performance computing facilities, or large-scale mission-critical environments.
• Experience working in a PMC, owner’s representative, consultant, commissioning agent, contractor, or client-side technical delivery environment.
• Previous experience working in Dubai, the UAE, or the wider GCC region.
• Familiarity with data center commissioning standards, IST methodologies, operational readiness requirements, and client testing protocols.
• Knowledge of liquid cooling, high-density racks, GPU infrastructure, accelerator platforms, network fabric, rack power, telemetry, and thermal performance validation.
• Professional certifications such as CxA, BCxP, CDCP, CDCS, Uptime Institute ATS/ATD, PMP, NFPA 70E, or relevant commissioning/data center credentials.
• Familiarity with commissioning management, document control, and project platforms such as CxAlloy, Facility Grid, Aconex, Procore, BIM 360, Oracle Primavera Cloud, or similar systems.
• Familiarity with Primavera P6 or Microsoft Project for commissioning schedule coordination.
• Arabic language capability is preferred but not required.
