We are searching for the best talent for a Calibration Coordinator in San Angelo, TX.

This position is under a Collective Bargaining Agreement in a union environment and the hourly rate is $32.67/hr

The Calibration Coordinator is part of the Facilities department and works closely with mechanics and instrument mechanics, the Quality department, and Production departments. The Calibration Coordinator is responsible for an efficient and compliant calibration process as well as the coordination of all calibration activities. The position also serves in an advisory capacity for the selection of new measuring devices and equipment with regard to calibration. This supports the manager in day-to-day business as well as project work.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure all requirements of applicable procedures are met.

  • Successfully complete and maintain all required training and certification examinations.

  • Ensure new measuring devices meet established requirements prior to implementation within the calibration system.

  • Implement new measuring devices, test plans, and test protocols within applicable systems.

  • Provide project support for the introduction of new devices, technologies, and methodologies.

  • Calculate complex measurement chains for calibration methods.

  • Ensure all calibration activities are performed and documented on time by internal personnel or external service providers in accordance with applicable procedures.

  • Coordinate and process external calibrations with approved vendors.

  • Create and process purchase orders and purchase order changes related to external calibration services.

  • Document and manage calibration-related deviations within the compliance system in accordance with applicable procedures.

  • Ensure work orders are prioritized, scheduled, and planned appropriately.

  • Analyze calibration data and evaluate calibration intervals to support continuous improvement.

  • Develop, maintain, and publish calibration performance metrics.

  • Ensure all calibration-related documentation is accurately maintained and archived in accordance with record retention requirements.

  • Procure calibration and measurement equipment as required.

  • Support internal and external quality audits and maintain ongoing audit readiness for calibration activities.

  • Support and participate in projects and continuous improvement initiatives, including the development of new approaches within calibration processes.

  • Define training requirements and determine the appropriate training level required to perform calibration tasks.

  • Communicate business-related issues, risks, and opportunities to the next level of management as appropriate.

  • Follow all Company guidelines related to Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) practices, as applicable.

  • For employees who supervise or manage staff, ensure team members comply with all Company Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) requirements and that all necessary resources are available and maintained in good condition, as applicable.

  • Ensure personal and Company compliance with all federal, state, local, and Company regulations, policies, and procedures.

  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • High School diploma, GED, or equivalent required.

  • 0-2 years of relevant experience.

  • Knowledge of metrology or calibration.

  • Good knowledge of the company's Quality Management System (QMS), regulatory requirements, and manufacturing processes.

  • Computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office applications and Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).

  • Good data analysis skills.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of manufacturing principles, practices, and procedures.

  • Ability to enter data into spreadsheet and database applications.

  • Ability to communicate effectively with a diverse client base.

  • Ability to work cooperatively with coworkers and the public.

  • Ability to perform duties in accordance with established policies and procedures and comply with civil rights requirements.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Effective problem-solving skills.

  • Presentation skills.

  • Experience leading a cross-functional team to develop a work plan.

  • Willingness to identify and implement process improvements.

  • Ability to collaborate with other technical departments.

  • Demonstrated decision-making ability and assertiveness.

  • Knowledge of Six Sigma and process excellence tools and methodologies.

  • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and Outlook, with the ability to demonstrate Microsoft Excel capabilities for data entry and interpretation, including:

    • Opening selected files from a specified location.

    • Reading and interpreting data displayed in both tabular and graphical formats.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Vocational, Certificate, Technical, or Associate's degree preferred.

  • Knowledge of PLCs and automated equipment.

  • Knowledge of CMMS (MAXIMO).

Additional Information

  • Must have good work habits, including neatness, organizational skills, and time management skills.

  • Performs other work-related duties as assigned, including work of a related nature.

  • This position will require candidates to take and pass the WorkKeys Assessment.

  • The selected candidate will have to be amenable to working onsite from Monday to Friday from 8 AM to 5 PM.
